The #CostumeCouture: 60 Years of #CosProp exhibit at the #FashionTextileMusem was delicious! I’m so happy I made it to London to see it before it ended.
Pictured here:

2. “Victoria” (2016-2019)
3. “Sense and Sensibility” (1995)

Telling — and defending — the full story of America - The Boston Globe Trump and his acolytes demean the last few decades of scholarship in US history. It’s actually been a golden age of insight.

An eloquent piece from the ever-insightful Megan Marshall:

Wuthering Heights is at its heart a story of class and race. Emerald Fennell has got it all wrong | Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett By turning the novel into just a corset-heaving love story, the director has stripped it of what made it so boundary-pushing, says Guardian columnist Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett

Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;—
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon..."

Stepping into the Eye of York for Colour & Light was like stepping into a fairy ring and suddenly being able to see all the ghosts of York’s past!
The magical projections on #Clifford’sTower and #YorkCastleMuseum were inspired by #York legends, from the Filey Brigg #Dragon to #GuyFawkes.

I spent a charming afternoon with the delightful #mice at #FairfaxHouse in #York. Next time you visit this fascinating Georgian house #museum, be sure to look out for them. The mice are hiding in plain sight and getting up to all sorts of mischief in their elegant #18thcentury ensembles.

I’m back in Haworth this weekend at the #BrontëParsonageMuseum to see the new exhibits “The Colonial #Brontës” and “Haunt me then…and now: Wuthering Heights on the Big Screen,” and to watch a screening of my favorite Wuthering Heights adaptation (1992 with Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche).

After the delightful decadence of last night’s #BrightonRegencyFestival Grand Ball at The Royal Pavilion, I spent today enjoying being by the #sea and recuperating with a stroll along the #BrightonPalacePier. There really is something restorative about listening to the sound of the #waves…

Thanks to #BrightonMuseums, and Zack Pinsent for a magical weekend of #Timetravel: drinking champagne at #PrestonManor, promenading in the Gardens and dancing at the Ball in the #RoyalPavilion.
As Zack put it, there were many happy #ghosts as we filled these spaces with celebration.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

I’m so glad! Rebecca Romney’s book is fantastic, and Fanny Burney is absolutely fascinating, as are so many of the under appreciated eighteenth century women writers Romney explores. Happy Reading!
