Great to see Professor Akram on STV last night joining our call for the rollout of a targeted lung cancer screening programme in Scotland to diagnose the disease earlier and improve survival. Currently, 68% of cases in Scotland are diagnosed at a late stage.

Big news for a #SmokefreeUK! @senedd.wales has voted for the Tobacco & Vapes Bill, which aims to help end cancers caused by smoking and create the first smokefree generation. We now want to see the Bill passed in @houseoflords.parliament.uk and implemented across all four nations.
Thank you to all our amazing @crukpolicy.bsky.social @cancerresearchuk.org volunteer Campaigns Ambassadors, to Alistair and all of our 35,000 supporters, who made their voices heard. Together, we are calling for the upcoming National Cancer Plan for England to be a #TurningPointForCancer

A photo of Dr Scott Arthur MP stood up to deliver a speech in the House of Commons, with three other MPs surrounding him.
We were delighted to see @drscottarthurmp.bsky.social's Rare Cancers Bill pass third reading this afternoon in the House of Commons.
This Bill is a crucial step forward for those living with rare and less common cancers, and we look forward to supporting it through the House of Lords.
Smoking is linked to at least 15 types of cancer, is the biggest driver of health inequalities and kills 1 person every 7 minutes in the UK.
My dad was one of them.
Hereβs a recap of our #SmokefreeUK campaign. Weβre on the cusp of legislation to help make that a reality.
The next few months will determine the outlook for the UK #LifeSciences research landscape for a decade.

We have gathered outside the Scottish Parliament as MSPs prepare to vote on legislation to help create the first smokefree generation by raising the age of sale of tobacco. We urge all MSPs to support this Bill and play their part in helping to end cancers caused by smoking. π

Today is a good day.
Thank you to the MPs who spoke in support today, and voted for to progress this Bill, which will help end the entirely preventable harms and misery caused by tobacco. #SmokefreeUK
π¨ New research finds that making the UK smokefree isnβt just good for healthβitβs a huge win for the economy too. Our new analysis with Landman Economics found that a smokefree UK could create 135,000 more jobs, adding ~ Β£10 billion to the economy. π
There is absolutely nothing good about tobacco. When used exactly as recommended by the manufacturer, cigarettes are the one legal consumer product that will kill most users β 2 out of 3 people who smoke will die from smoking.
Today MPs have the opportunity to act. #SmokefreeUK π
1/ This #NoSmokingDay, weβre calling on parliamentarians and representatives from across the UK to support the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, to help create a smokefree UK. But weβre not the only ones. Hereβs why our Campaigns Ambassadors and these supportive councillors are backing the Bill. π
1/ Today is #NoSmokingDay! If you smoke, stopping completely is the best thing you can do for your health. And youβll be lowering your risk of at least 16 types of cancer. Itβs never too late to quit and you donβt have to do it alone. Keep reading for support to stop smoking for good π
I started smoking at 13 and spent 25 years trying to quit. I watched my dad, a lifelong smoker, die of lung cancer aged 66. I feared my daughter would watch the same in years ahead. But I never stopped trying and went to a quit clinic aged 40. I've never looked back #NoSmokingDay
