Last Saturday we had 34 people on the walk which is awesome given the rotten weather forecast and sodden terrain. FoSCL walkers are tough!
Mud glorious mud! We happily slid and sloshed our way through the mud as we walked from Gargrave out to Coniston Cold and back.
Last Saturday the Weather Gods must really love us as we had yet another rain-free outing!
The Sun even made a guest appearance! Loads of people enjoyed the walk which we finished off with drinks and cake in the lovely town of Settle.

Our first walk of 2026 gave us fantastic cold but sunny weather as we walked through the "Wild Ingleborough" project. So much is being done to improve the diversity of the flora and fauna in the area it's absolutely worth a visit!

Last Saturday we were very lucky and stayed dry until we reached Malham then a lovely, atmospheric walk through the mist towards Pike Daw followed by hazy sunshine and spectacular views.
Finished the walk with time to join in the festivities and watch the fireworks in Settle.

This Saturday will see the Settle Station Christmas event with free sherry and mince pies, book signing, carol singing & the chance to buy lots of gifts and goodies to support the Friends.

On last Saturday's walk we're delighted to report that the search for Salmo Salar was successful and salmon were spotted at Stainforth...BUT...they were too fast for any of us to take a photo!

Last Saturday we left the World Heritage site of Saltaire, & set off to explore the hills and woodlands around Baildon. It was surprisingly strenuous walking with plenty of ups and downs to work those legs. A great way to get fit and enjoy yourself at the same time!
