“When asked if he thought being able to communicate clearly was an important trait in a Prime Minister, Luxon said that is.”
🤣🤣🤣
It’s a shame he never bothered to learn. And after the fiasco that is his tenure as PM, he may struggle to get a job where communication is important.

A quote from the linked article on Christopher Luxon's leadership:
"Judith Collins reiterates support for Luxon, calls questions about leadership 'silly'
Judthith Collins says Christopher Luxon has her 'absolute suppoert', adding that he is excellent as a leader."
Well that's the kiss of death if ever I saw it:

Nothing screams world safety like the son of the murdered leader being appointed the new leader.
I’m sure USA and Israel factored this into all their war preparation, right?

Nicola Willis - along with the rest of the National government - has a performance review on 7 November this year. And the choice is pretty simple: either we vote for the ultra-rich, or we vote for ourselves.

He seem incapable of understanding that others may have taken other paths in life because they prioritised things other than wealth accumulation and may, at times, have deliberately chosen to leave money on the table out of principle.

- he clearly believes his wealth and career success are evidence of his superiority in terms of intelligence and effort, failing to acknowledge the role of luck and other factors that may have contributed to his rise, such as possibly having a greater ruthlessness or moral flexibility than others.

- being a boss is not the same as being a leader. Luxon comes across as the out-of-touch guy from head office who thinks he knows best, making dumb decisions and ignoring the views and wisdom of front-line workers. He shows no ability to inspire or bring people together for a common cause.

- his focus through life had clearly been on climbing the corporate ladder. His shift to politics seemed to be motivated by a desire to rise to a position higher than CEO, rather than any deep belief or desire to make society a better place.

With the evident failure of the Luxon experiment, I hope the National Party, the media, and the general public might give some thought to the qualities needed in a leader.
I found the media excitement about Luxon entering politics baffling and nothing he has done since has changed my view.

Obama: Every day you wake up to things you just didn’t think were possible. Each day we’re told by those in high office to fear each other. Everywhere we see greed and bigotry being celebrated, and bullying and mockery masquerading as strength.

Advice I was once given. It’s easy to escalate. It’s not so easy to de-escalate. Seems pertinent.

U.S. sub sinks Iranian warship off Sri Lanka, killing 87 and expanding war zone
A U.S. submarine sank an Iranian warship off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, killing dozens of sailors and dramatically widening Washington's pursuit of the Iranian navy.
A US submarine sinking a lonely, dinky Iranian surface ship an ocean away from the theater of the main conflict—and 9000
miles from North America—makes it pretty clear the US is fighting a general war, without the declaration required by the Constitution. www.reuters.com/world/asia-p...

Great to see this, and see some of the experts from NZ who were critical in correcting outdated advice represented.
Also noting it was often vulnerable communities/ those with early experience of Long Covid who were early adopters and pushed these comms online too, consistently ahead of governments.
