This iceberg was once the biggest in the world. Now it has just weeks left - BBC News A23a was once twice the size of Greater London but now its 40-year journey is coming to an end.

Four panel comic
Panel 1: a bird onstage says "whales"
Panel 2: audience member yells "Boo! Get better material!"
Panel 3: bird looks through note cards in a sweaty panic
Panel 4: note cards say "sperm whales cooler than humpback whales" "white whale = scarier than normal whale" "whaling is most dignified sailing profession"

I've used occasional screenplay style scene headings to break up text in the novel I'm writing, and the chapters are S1E01, S1E02... it's about the rise and fall of a guy who works in TV so I think it fits, and test readers seem to like it.
INT. PUB - DAY is the most common.

Love Life review – light romcom glides by on Anna Kendrick's charms There is nothing very deep or challenging to find in this tale of a 20-something’s romantic New York endeavours. But the comic writing is effortlessly good

Been watching this over the last week or so - worth a go if you're looking for something in half hour chunks. Very NY, made me miss the place, will we ever get to go back?
(And an absolute banger of a needle drop in the final scene)

Rise and fall of the right hand man to an acerbic TV personality, told after a crash landing back to his home town.
Could send you first couple of chapters if you're interested?

Thanks! It's contemporary fiction, lots of dark jokes, a sort of flashback memoir, very meta.
Hoping to get it out there on e-book at least this year.

There's still a mummified cat on display at the Atkinson in Southport, up the coast from Liverpool, amongst some other Egyptian artefacts.

"TV. It’s a nepotistic industry. Here’s as close as I get to a nepo story, although it skipped a generation - my Grandad built his own television from a mail-order kit and spare parts he borrowed from work."
First lines of my novel.

Springbank single malt, and the fact it's become hard to find, plays a part in the short I'm currently writing. So when I saw it in a pub earlier I had to buy a shot. Coincidences, eh.

At CDG airport in Paris. Two irate customers at Pret A Manager demanding to speak to the (obviously non existent) manager. Why not ask to speak to Charles de Gaulle himself?

In the old days, good writers got famous for selling books.
Nowadays, bad writers sell books by being famous.

Look, all I’m saying is that why are there so many black, Asian, and indigenous characters and homoeroticism forced into a story set in pre-Civil War America that drills it into us that the villain is white?
