I’ve blocked that person but last week I swam for an hour and then had to bike like 5 miles home uphill. Without my ebike, I would’ve driven because I was TIRED after swimming for an hour. Not that I have to justify my usage, but my ebike lets me be active in other ways.
We went from squeezing my ebike into a corner of the garage half the garage just being BIKES.
Of course plenty of women ride regular bikes, too! But ebikes reduce barriers that women are more likely face than men.
My addition to the burst of anti-ebike gatekeeping is that ebikes are an incredible tool for women, who are more likely to be ferrying children around and running errands for the family. They also provide an additional layer of safety, as they make it easier to escape sticky situations.
If you're riding a bike, any bike, you're doing it right
I just texted my friend last night how thankful I am for my ebike. I used to hate riding a bike and I was dreading needing to teach my kid. Now it’s one of our favorite things to do together. 🫶🏻
And funny enough, after a few years of exclusively riding an ebike, I now have a regular bike, too!
No.
I rode my acoustic about 5 miles yesterday for exercise. Then I rode my electric cargo bike when I went out with my kid - she wasn’t sure she’d have the energy to climb the hills home (she wound up crushing it) but the cargo bike means I can haul her AND her bike home. What’s not to love?
Every direction from my house is downhill. Which means all my return trips are uphill. At the end of a long day, it’s nice not to have to kilo myself to get home.
Also, the ability to move faster is a safety feature as a woman moving through the city alone.
My climb from the grocery store is 160 feet over 1.5 miles. I can do it on my ACOUSTIC bike. I cannot do it with my bike loaded up with groceries. So without my electric bike, I’ll drive to the grocery store instead. I wonder which gives me more exercise, a pedal assist bike or a car. 🤔
I’m glad that MCTS offers free rides on St. Patrick’s Day, but I do wish it went all day instead is starting at 6pm. This is Wisconsin. I’ve been in bars at 6 AM on St. Patrick’s Day. More than once.
I am a weirdo who likes changing because I couldn’t handle the super late sunrise in the winter but also don’t need the sun coming up at 4:30 in the summer. But yes, let’s go back to when the change used to be!
Which is why the change should be in April, the way it was until 20 years ago!
I’m also convinced this is part of why people hate fall back so much. We used to gradually move back to that 4:30 sunset and now we catapult to it, which feels harsher.
I think the real crime is that we switch in November and March. We used to switch in October and April.
I know everybody likes the later sunset, but it still being dark at almost 7am is pretty rough, too. Nobody cares about us, though. 😭😭😭
200mg bayyyyybeeeee
I did so much physical activity yesterday and I didn’t drink alcohol and I took my trazodone and I still didn’t even get 7 hours of sleep. 😭
Absolutely cannot recommend Wheel Brightz enough for night biking. We not only got a TON of compliments on our bikes tonight, but I could tell they caught drivers’ attention and helped keep us safer.
Me to whiny baby drivers who complain about traffic calming: CRY HARDER!
I have the matching stem bag but cannot figure out how to keep it attached. May just wind up using some zip ties at some point.
Purple Trek step through bike with purple floral pannier and matching handlebar bag
Took the acoustic out for a spin on my lunch break and was tempted not to come back. (Also her new bags are so pretty.)
IDK what your neighborhood is like, but this warrants an offer in the local Buy Nothing group in Wisconsin.
Cubed potatoes with diced sausage and shredded cheese, topped with a sunny side up egg. Clementine not pictured but I did eat one!
Last night I promised myself I’d have yogurt and berries for breakfast. Post gym that turned into a big nah.
I own a car but I’m feeling very smug that we’ve managed to organize our lives so that we don’t have to drive much. Gas could double and I’d still probably spend more on cheese each month than gas.
The fates didn’t align for me to get out and enjoy the sunshine on bike or foot today, but I did get a pair of jeans from Goodwill for $7 so that’s not nothing.
Our whole family got to church on time today, and I didn’t even have to yell at anyone to get moving. A true Daylight Saving Time miracle.
Left the empire to Joaquin Phoenix is killing me. 😂
Yeah I’m not saying we never did bad things but it was typically a bit more mixed! Like we interned Japanese Americans (bad) while fighting Nazis (good). We invaded Iraq (bad) while starting PEPFAR (good). Now it’s just bad, bad, a little more bad, side of bad, how about some bad for dessert.
Also if you come up with a list, I’m happy to make an ask on the neighborhood Buy Nothing group. People could drop supplies on my porch and I could deliver to you.
