I once on a lark decided to see about making a “Minnesota dog” as an answer to the Chicago dog: tater tot crumble, cream of mushroom w/wild rice and sweet corn gravy, topped with shredded cheddar.
Once was enough, but perhaps inspiration.

I don’t believe Noem, I have no reason to believe Homan either.
There *are* fewer than before. But they are still doing harm here and elsewhere.
Abolish ICE.
I'm not interested in ceding ground to bad ideas, or trying to reach some mystical Newsomesque compromise with this guy. No.
But I *am* interested in what messages are getting through and aren't and how we can leverage points of connection for movement forward.
They're there, if you look.
Yeah, it's all mostly unpleasant, and he spends the whole time steamrolling someone who is trying to provide a little care and nuance.
*BUT*
There are some real, workable points there for those of us trying to move this conversation. And I don't think it's as immovable as we might imagine.
3. He thinks more private restrooms are a good option on bathrooms. Me too!
4. He loves the simplicity of chromosomes=sex; but he doesn't dismiss trans people & gender dysphoria.
5. His opposition to inclusion for trans women is rooted in an argument that is basically "men are creeps." Interesting.
1. Rogan actually personally knows (and likes) at least one trans woman (his friend's wife); he doesn't misgender or deadname her directly here. Interesting.
2. He states very clearly that he believes that trans people should be safe in bathrooms (even if he & I disagree on which one I should use).
Look, Rogan, like many folks has a very limited understanding of transness informed by a sea of parroted misinformation and tabloid stories.
But the things that interested me most (aside from Steve-O's genuine attempt to inject some compassion and humanity into the conversation):
Thanks to autoplay, I stumbled into the Rogan Steve-O exchange around trans people and kept listening out of professional curiosity.
I won't reshare to save others stumbling into Rogan's gross remarks and would discourage seeking it out.
But there are some interesting threads to pull on here. 🧵

Noem egged ICE on as they arrested innocent children, violated Minnesotans’ rights, and harassed entire communities. She smeared Renee Good and Alex Pretti. I’m glad she’s going but the problem isn’t going away with her. My eye is still on the ball and I’m going to keep fighting for justice.

The people of Minneapolis and Minnesota kicked Bovino out of our state and got Kristi Noem fired. We still have a long way to go but this is because of the love and resistance of our neighbors and the resiliency of our immigrant community.

Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and it’s good she’s gone.
But this doesn’t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.
It’s time to rip ICE apart.
This is a move many of us have organized for. Trump's DHS has killed two Minnesotans, terrorized our immigrant communities, detained citizens, and traumatized our children.
But make no mistake - changing the head of this agency will not change the direction of his mass deportation agenda.
Kristi Noem never should have been confirmed and her tenure has caused immeasurable harm to our communities.
Getting her out a Secretary is a win.
But it's small comfort, this was not a single leader problem, and it's not accountability especially with her getting another even symbolic role.
I truly do think all of the "Noem out, Mullin in" posts and stories are failing American democracy right now!
Trump is announcing his nominee.
That's it.
If the Senate majority wants to confirm him, they're a part of this—even after knowing what they know now.
And that matters come November.

Dollars spent don't capture the human cost of this war, but the dollars spent represent a stark choice.
"Priced at around $2.2 million, a single Tomahawk missile could cover 775 children on Medicaid for a year or provide more than 3,600 children with meals in the National School Lunch Program."
Not every leader in this moment can or should be on the front lines patrolling and protesting - that isn't what distinguishes him; but what CM Chavez shows is the strength of real relationship with constituents, of effective communication in a time of crisis, and constantly centering care.
Deeply grateful for the continued leadership of @jchavezmpls.bsky.social - and for the many ways he shows up each day to support his constituents.

Pressed on this in MN hearings last year a flustered bill author basically summed it up as “well we just know.”
Their biological sex definitions appear tidy until you scratch the surface. It’s about gender conformity and control, not biological or cultural realities.
Gender is complicated!
Three tips:
1. Get your info from good, legal analysis - not headlines or hot takes.
2. Many decisions are much narrower than they might appear or allow room for good work - don't cede extra ground we don't have to!
3. SCOTUS won't save us. We will. And our work continues no matter how they rule.
There have actually been a fair number of positive court rulings and orders over the last year (and before) repudiating or pausing many of the most harmful policies impacting our communities - we *can* win, we are.
But we're also swimming upstream in a stacked judiciary; no more so than at SCOTUS.
