20 000 words into writing a story and I started counting words to see if I can make it long enough to be a novel. Iβve decided to stop that and just write the story. Feeling better already.

I read this as the pacing being off or that some scenes werenβt as engaging enough. I look for scenes that arenβt moving the plot forward or require more urgency.
Sometimes the length is fine and adding more plot is what you need.

This isnβt chess. Iβm just working out my blocking for a stage musical with chess pieces. Amazingly the pieces all made sense for each of the characters.

Monster Siege: Slobber monsters(parents) attempt to steal rubber ducks from defenders(kids), who use pool spears to defend themselves.
Like a sporting match with a good dose of theatre and silliness thrown in.
Had a go at mapping the audience journey onto the heroβs journey. It extends their emotional experience beyond the performance, making the actual show a feature of act 2.

Pneumatic tubes were always one of those things I saw in films and wanted to play with. Itβs been so fun watching players get to have that experience.
