We're in court today asking a judge to block a new Kansas law that invalidates the IDs of transgender people and allows anyone to sue a person they suspect of being trans for using public restrooms.
This law has been wreaking havoc on trans people and we're demanding an immediate end to it.
We'll update this page if/when we get an order from the judge
At 1:30 Central/2:30 Eastern, my colleague @harperseldin.bsky.social will be in state court in Kansas asking a judge to block the new law that invalidated the driver's licenses of trans people across the state. You can tune into the hearing here
As Kagan notes in her dissent, the Court opted not to hear the due process parental rights argument against bans on gender-affirming medical care in Skrmetti, basically setting up a regime where parents can force their trans children back into the closet but cannot help them out of it
Honestly a more impressive move would have been covering the missed income of transgender drivers now out of a job
BREAKING: We're suing Kansas for a law that invalidates transgender people's updated driver's licenses and authorizes anyone to sue anyone they suspect of being trans for using the "wrong" bathroom.
This state court challenge is being led by @harperseldin.bsky.social
This effectively forces every trans person in the state to out themselves while applying for a job, renting an apartment, or being stopped by police. It's part of the same law that allows anyone to sue anyone else they suspect of being trans and using the "wrong" bathroom.
We the people have the power. Join us tomorrow, January 26, for a virtual training on how to exercise your right to document ICE abuses in your community.

ICE and CBP agents are out of control and put everyone in danger.
We're calling for ICE agents to withdraw from Minneapolis, and for Congress to rein in ICEβs abuses in our communities.
BREAKING: We filed a class action lawsuit against ICE and CBP challenging federal agentsβ unconstitutional and illegal stops and arrests of people in Minnesota.
We'll see the Trump administration in court.
On my way to the Supreme Court where I'll be proud to support 15-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson, West Virginia's only transgender athlete, as she opposes the state's effort to ban her from playing as herself.
Win or lose, Becky and her family are heroes for standing up for what's right
Politicians are hoping to not just ban trans kids from playing sports with their friends but also open the door to all sorts of discrimination against transgender and other LGBTQ people.
We'll be at the Supreme Court tomorrow to stop them.
Trans youth like Becky Pepper-Jackson deserve the right to participate in school sports without facing discrimination.
Tuesday, we'll be at the Supreme Court defending Becky and other trans kids' right to play.
But Pepper-Jackson has more than the 4 kilogram weight of the shot used in high school girlsβ shot put on her shoulder as her case enters the nationβs highest legal arena. βI feel very nervous, but I know that someone has to do it, because letting these awful laws and bills just stand is not something that should happen,β Pepper-Jackson says in the video. βI want other trans girls to know that they are not alone, and that Iβm doing this for us. β¦ I really want them to have hope.β
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court is going to hear West Virginia's effort to ban the state's only transgender athlete, 15-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson.
Win or lose, I need your help making sure Becky knows she's a hero for standing up for what's right
This weekend, we're coming together in cities and towns across the country to send a message: ICE doesn't belong in our communities.
We'll be at the Supreme Court next week fighting West Virginia politicians' discriminatory attempt to prevent one transgender kid in their state from playing sports with her friends.
This case is bigger than sports or one client β it's about protecting hard-fought civil rights protections.
I invite all Americans to join Minnesota in a day of unity tomorrow.
We condemn ICE's killing of a Minneapolis woman today and call on federal agents to withdraw from Minnesota immediately.
This tragedy is further proof that ICE is out of control, endangering our communities, and must end its lawless operations before anyone else is brutally hurt or killed.
Ho ho ho. Here is our press release about the decision.
As @chrisgeidner.bsky.social said: this was the first decision won by patients themselves. Similar challenges -- patients, without the hospitals -- are pending regarding hospitals in LA and DC.

I do think more people should appreciate that Sarah has to be selective about when she draws attention to her identity given the obsessive focus on it by some of her colleagues--she is in a uniquely impossible position. But it also makes it more impactful when she does.
I know many things are awful but here is one genuinely useful and helpful thing you can do. No matter their party, your representative needs to hear that trans people and our families are not alone and this bill is an unjustifiable and extreme threat to criminalize the health care we need to live.
The story told here--one where anecdata suggests agency and autonomy have run amok and nameless activists are to blame--certainly rhymes with the NYT's disastrous panic about trans kids. Then you realize it's literally being written by the same author.
The Justice Department subpoenaed more than 20 doctors and hospitals that provide gender-related care to minors (including puberty suppressants, hormone therapy and surgeries) accusing them of having βmutilated children in the service of a warped ideology.β Trump had already issued a series of executive orders dismantling protections for trans people, banning them from military service and allowing open discrimination by federal workplaces. The subpoenas demanded patient information protected by privacy law. Barbara Schwabauer, Civil Rights Division: Itβs one thing to say weβre no longer going to stand up for trans people in this administration, weβre not going to file briefs in support of them. But to affirmatively go after them? I could not in good conscience continue to be a part of that. These are teenagers.
Attorney Barbara Schwabauer explains her decision to leave the Justice Department's Office of Civil Rights rather than comply with a Trump administration order to subpoena the medical records of transgender teens
Anyone who applies for a new, corrected, or replacement passport, or for a passport renewal, is at risk of having their passport issued bearing the sex they were assigned at birth.
President Trump's anti-trans passport policy is now in effect, but our lawsuit challenging it isn't over yet.
