Says one reader: "I have read your stories, and they are alluring. And troubling. They will bear rereading." If that's your cup o' tea, grab one at your local bookstore!
The product placement we all need! 😍
A flier for Evan's upcoming event at Cottage Groove books on Saturday, March 7.
And interior shot of Cottage Groove Books & Music. How cool is that mezzanine?!
Hey folks! If you live in Eugene or Cottage Grove, come to Cottage GrOOVe Books & Music this Saturday. I'll be in conversation with Miriam Gershow about my new collection, "The Divide." Got friends in the area? Encourage them to come too!
This place even has a mezzanine!

The book launch at the Kennedy School went great! The perfect turnout, neither too large nor too small. People from all aspects of my life came: old friends, new friends, coworkers, writers, family, and more. I need to fix my Chuck Schumer stoop, though.
A book launch event. Evan Williams reading from his book, with emcee Dede Montgomery looking on.
So the book launch at the Kennedy School went great, but first I want to shout out my emcee, @d2montgomery.bsky.social, for her support.
Check her out! Her latest book is a historical fiction set on the Columbia River called A Map of Her Own. dedemontgomery.com

Happy release day to Evan and The Divide! Get this excellent collection of stories set in the Mountain West.
Happy #SmallPoemSunday
Red-breasted sapsucker male, climbing an old maple tree.
Rare here in Portland: a red-breasted sapsucker. And since taking this photo, I have heard its call for several days. A new resident in my street tree?
The light is on for Evan Morgan Williams! @pahoehoe.bsky.social💡
“The Clear Blue Sky” is a moving story of tension, where the fractures between two people stand starkly against love.
Check out Evan’s amazing writing over at the site!
Williams places his characters in environments disguised as warm, as home, as temporary hiding place, and asks the reader to see the contrast or likeness to the sometimes desolate or uninhabitable landscape of the snowy mountains or forgotten towns. Readers will relate to Williams' characters and their discontent, their reaction to the discomfort of these situations. They will recognize the moment of disconnect between the couples or friends, and feel like they were there to witness weighty moments with these characters. That's Williams' power with language and characters, one felt in the body even as an observer.
Excerpt from @suzyeynon.bsky.social’s review of my upcoming collection, “The Divide.” @variantlit.bsky.social
From a story by Evan Morgan Williams, "Soft and Warm Against Me." Text: A pause on the line. “My golden-haired daughter is murdered. Two years, the memory burns. My son, he amuses himself at a party.” “Mom!” “She used to tell you stories. Remember her stories, Matthew? But how can she tell stories now when she’s so alone? I mean, of course she’s not alone anymore. Sweet Jesus.” My mom choked up. Jimmy glared at me and made the cut-off sign across his neck.
Still thinking about "Soft and Warm Against Me" by @pahoehoe.bsky.social from Variant issue 20. Excellent dialogue, and so much going on beneath the surface. I loved working on this story.

This story is so f—ng good …
Realistic fiction short stories. A cluttered tinker’s wagon of influences…
