Tuesday 7th. Took a walk before breakfast. From 10 till 5 oC. in the lib'y with Archdn Glover, – hardest work. I went through the reminder of the Greek Offices & Missals, &c – undescribed by Roscoe. Mr & Mrs Blane dined here – & Hon. Edwd Keppel, brother of Lady Anne, – came to stay. #otd

Monday 6th. Sent a letter to Mr Petrie, describ'g the MS of the Saxon Laws ... went over the Latin Bibles & Psalters. Archdeacon Glover arrived, – a profound scholar, who has been employed ... in compiling a Catalogue of the Duke of Sussex’s library. ...

Sunday 5th. Did not go to Church. In the large library of printed books all the morn'g – looking over port-folios filled with original drawings of the Italian masters. Walked out with Adm’l Digby short distance. The Revd Mr. Bligh, the gentleman who does duty in the chapel at

Saturday 4th. From ten till 4. in the liby. Adml. Digby persuaded me to ride out with him ...

Travel Madden spent the whole month in London. He walked out to visit his uncle in Fulham once, and spent most of his time at the British Museum. His leisure activities mostly took place in the area between the British Museum and Hyde Park. Dorset Square British Museum Portland…
