Very little difference between US and UK layout now...
International keyboards had almost no whole English words on them - no home, end, page up, page down; even control was shortened to ctrl. But we now got control, option, command. What Apple does is to standardise across markets; go preorder Neo and see only little changes between US and UK or intl.
We've called it "alt" (as a short for alternate) key in the UK since I remember. I started as Apple support in 2006 and "keep holding the alt key" was the line I used a lot, to boot from another drive. Apparently it comes from IBM PC. BTW - Czech keyboard is similar: markinns.com/archive/appl...
Soooo basically, they went to what international or European countries layout has been for a decade?
I think I even remember "option" being lust "alt", and "command" just "cmd".
