Continuing: RCV gives candidates an incentive to find common ground because to win candidates need backup votes from their opponents supporters, can reduce campaign costs, elects twice as many women to office compared to norm, & ensures that winning candidate has support from majority of voters
When more than two candidates run for a single seat votes are often split between similar candidates resulting in a candidate winning with less than 50% of the vote who doesn’t have majority support. RCV functions like an instant runoff enabling voters to mark their backup choices….
