Having been one of them up until 2 months ago, I know some are true converts, some are doing it for pure career advancement (and hate themselves for it, this was me), and some are just cowards. You find infinite ways to rationalize.
I can personally attest this is true for pretty much 90% of every GOP Party member, activist, and elected leader in Orange County, CA.

There's been some exuberance over the prospect of MAGA cracking up or Trump ceasing to be a force in the Republican Party. What could step into the power vacuum could be far worse.
This Thanksgiving I wanted to share my message about resisting the urge to sink into nihilism and embracing hope.

I don't revel in this in the slightest. When I published my article announcing my decision to leave the GOP, I got a few threats on social media, and that was scary enough. I can't fathom what it's like to get a deluge of likely way more credible threats.

I wrote countless fundraising emails decrying the destruction of confederate statues back in 2020. Many of those Republicans are now radio silent over the destruction of the White House East Wing. Cowards.
