These soldiers have lost their lives because of the Epstein files.
This week on βWhatever This Isβ, the one word Danielle Smith is using to cover for her own budget deficit: Scapegoat.

On March 31 the cost of a Canadian passport will rise.
For those applying within Canada, a five-year passport would rise to $123.24, a 10-year passport to $164.32.
"However, in an impact statement accompanying the move, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada says that's just the first step."

Stories like this involve power, politics, and global ties β exactly why independent public journalism matters. Without outlets like CBC, would Canadians get the full picture?

@deadder.bsky.social has so many great cartoons:
A Canada postage stamp showing a painted portrait of Chloe Cooley centered in the frame. She wears a patterned headwrap, a white blouse, a blue bodice, and a yellow shawl. Behind her is a wide river with rocky cliffs and autumn-colored trees; a canoe with two people is on the water to the left. The word βCANADAβ appears at the top left, βCHLOE COOLEYβ at the bottom left, and a maple-leaf Canada Post logo is at the top right. The stamp has a white perforated border.
In 1793, Chloe Cooley, an enslaved woman in Upper Canada, was beat, tied up and forcefully taken across the border to be sold in the United States.
The incident led to the first legislation in the British Colonies to restrict the slave trade.
This is the story.

Another grey day in the UK, but there's the promise of sunshine coming soon...
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #posted - a bird on a post. And what brighter ray of sunshine could there be than a Rose-coloured Starling basking on a Shetland fencepost?

In 1812, Thomas Jefferson propounded that taking Canada is βa mere matter of marching.β In 2026, talk of the US invading Canada seems far-fetchedβbut not impossible. Writer and professor Peter Jones has to wonder: How would we actually defend ourselves? https://ow.ly/ip6L50Y9KFa

Illustration of Richard Pierpoint shown in motion, stepping forward with one arm raised. He is wearing an 18th-century military-style outfit with a green coat, red cuffs, light-coloured trousers, and tall brown boots. A musket with a shoulder strap is carried at his side, and a pack with gear is strapped to his back. His hair is dark and worn long. The background is plain and light-coloured, focusing attention on the figure and his clothing and equipment.
Richard Pierpoint was kidnapped and enslaved for over two decades.
He eventually escaped to the north and fought against the Americans in the American Revolution and the War of 1812.
Today, he is honoured in Canada.
This is his story.
