Stuart's site is simply a mine of treasures. He generously shares so much openly and is a truly deep scholar. His books - particularly on Foucault - are always must-reads for me.

if quantitative social science is automatable, it's because many of the fields in question have already reorganized their research in such a way to be indistinguishable from machine output, and already optimized for machine measurement.
Yes. Just from the link I sent to Will, I see you, Timothy Burke, and Jon Dresner who are all active here, mentioned in the awards. But Will had not heard of them and Laura had her memory jogged.

It's possible we may have "met" in one of those threads.
I know that there are actually quite a few Cliopatria award winners here on bsky.

Does anyone on here remember Ralph Luker's old Cliopatria Awards for blogging?
(I did a quick search and I seem to be the first person to mention him or them on bsky.)

Green-blue-grey blocky soundwaves on background. Centred in black serif lettering “Sonance”, with “journal of early modern sound studies” underneath.
👀 Over the last few months, I’ve been working with the terrific triumvirate @spparkle.bsky.social, @emiliekmmurphy.bsky.social & Hannah Yip to set up “Sonance: A Journal of Early Modern Sound Studies”, a diamond open access journal dedicated to historic sounds in all their wondrous & eclectic forms.
Congratulations!

Managing Pandemics in Early Modern Germany, edited by Peter Hess, is out now with Berghahn books, and I've just learned that the introduction (which I wrote) is free to read on the website! www.berghahnbooks.com/title/HessMa...
@christinekooi.bsky.social Hi! My album amicorum research uncovered something new to me, and I was wondering if it is something widely known to Dutch Reformation scholars?

SOCRESTA explores how ordinary people used violence and the law to settle their disputes, by focusing on the 16th-c Prince-bishopric of Würzburg. This German polity offers a unique window into early modern social relations, state dynamics, and the history of the feud or Fehde. (1/2)
