I hadn't been since I was a teen as well. Can confirm it was just as fun as an adult π₯° #KidLitChat
That sounds magical!β¨ #KidLitChat
Huzzah! π #KidLitChat
That's so fun! I went to a small local ren faire in SoCal π #KidLitChat
I will just post about my favorite thing so far this quarter which was attending a ren faire for book idea research (and of course, merriment). I'll likely be going back in the fall for more. π΄ββ οΈπ°π #KidLitChat
Happy book birthday!!! #KidLitChat
Congratulations!!!

I picked up a copy once in the library and it was in the MG section

Interesting! I vividly remember reading The Da Vinci Code on the bus to school and being exhausted as well. I always thought maybe I read it too young/reading level was too high, but perhaps it was the pacing too #KidLitChat
I just want to add my appreciation for the topic introduction. It made me giggle π #KidLitChat
I want to share a bit laterally to this topic: if you get feedback on word count (too short/long), it may be a deeper insight. You can technically have a wordless picture book that is paced wonderfully. Hence, a note on word count to me warrants a look at the pace of your story. #kidlitchat
Congrats!! What a great accomplishment βΊοΈ
I would put in a vote for lowercase, because saying "I googled something" also stays lowercase as a verb
This is relevant to last nightβs #KidLitChat discussion on querying!
How amazing!! Congrats! β€οΈ #KidLitChat
@junesmalls.bsky.social I love this and what a great metaphor. π₯ͺπ The sandwich rejection concept is also a great reminder for anyone out on sub (speaking for a friend aka me π) #KidLitChat
My last big tip is to be kind to yourself (and to think kindly of the agents). A rejection may not be a reflection on the quality of your work. It doesn't make it hurt less, but you can celebrate what you can control. If you send a query, THAT is a win. You are doing the thing! #KidLitChat
As far as submission strategy when querying, I recommend sending in small batches. That way you can make adjustments if you get form responses vs. personalized etc. querytracker.net can even filter a search by reply % and days (Under Agents -> Data View, select "Submission Data") #KidLitChat
Writing a great query is a separate skill from writing a great book, so my best tip is to study successful queries. www.query101.blog/about is a great resource (and includes the query that landed my first agent). There's also queryshark.blogspot.com by the late, great agent Janet Reid. #KidLitChat
Yes, Exactly! Twitter was how I got connected when just starting, and Bluesky has filled that void I lost #KidLitChat
I was thinking about the individual moments that moved me forward in writing and realized that they all had one thing in common: finding knowledge and inspiration in community (like this one!) #KidLitChat
always love seeing your #KidLitConfections during #KidLitChat!
Welcome!! #KidLitChat
I do this too! #KidLitChat
lol still to be discovered and then hopefully added! #KidLitChat
The book Story Genius by Lisa Cron is resting atop a gray library table. Beneath we see a glimpse of pages of a spiral bound notebook with handwritten notes in blue ink that reads βStory Genius Notes 4/22/2025 what drives a story forward?β
Hi #KidLitChat ! I am currently at the library studying and am delighted to see where the convo goes tonight as I plot out my MG. βΊοΈ
Missed #KidLitChat tonight (traveling mid air βοΈ) but I wanted to hop in and answer about the part of my creative process I can't do without:
It's wonder.
