Things got so hectic for me end of the semester, I fell off the wagon… I’m glad you followed it through! I’m about to resume as if nothing happened 😂 #adhd

I don’t know quite how to account for this. Why do I feel…caught, somehow? 🤣
Day 11
Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.
Ah thank you, Jan!
Oh wonderful! This makes me really happy to hear!
That’s super kind, thank you!!!
What a humbling thing to say…thank you so much, that’s really generous!!
Head on over to the kindle store & get yours now free, while you can!
I’d appreciate it if you’d help me spread the word—and if the book does speak the language of your own soul, reviews are super helpful. But mostly I hope this will help you carve out space in you to enter into more deeply into your own longing.
I believe that honoring this kind of consecrated time actually changes the temperature in our lives, & in our communities. I simply want to get this deeply personal passion project into people’s hands.
A free gift for you!
For the start of Advent, I’ve decided to make the ebook of The Book of Waiting: Reflections on Advent & Christmas available for FREE, today (Monday)—Wednesday only! I believe in living into the longing that Advent embodies. I believe that your own waiting is not wasted.
Day 10
Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.
Friends, I’m honoured to join so many incredible Palestinians friends in this powerful advent devotional: redletterchristians.org/2024/12/01/a...
Day 9
Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.
I don’t know my way around here at all, this is super helpful, thank you!!! I will absolutely start doing this!
yeah this one definitely never leaves you
Not everyone wants that kind of dissonance in their Advent, or better said it’s why we’d sometimes rather not have Advent at all and skip to Christmas…but I don’t know what any of “this” means, if it doesn’t name THAT longing, give language to THAT yearning.
#advent
I could not write myself to any sort of ridiculous “solutions”, only the proclamation that is at the heart of faith: into the terror, under the rubble, Christ is born. It’s where God came, surely it must be where God is/how God is coming now.
In the same way the slaughter of the innocents is as much a part of the Christmas story, as the Christ child being born—it’s always been a story of trauma, hope, defiance, lament.
I wrote The Book of Waiting: Reflections on Advent & Christmas in a kind of fever dream, with Gaza on my mind-with real sights and sounds and people I love on my mind. In a way it’s always been the story of this particular stretch of land…
#advent
I love Silence (taught it for a semester last year and had a blast), but this is my favorite Endo. Was apparently his too…he saw it as a culmination of his journey, & as I understand it requested it be the book that was buried with him!
Day 8
Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.
Blessings on all of you who are about to journey through Advent and Christmas with The Anticipated Christ. May you encounter Jesus in new and wonderful ways. #Advent
I think of this line from Mulder to Scully on the X-Files every time I see a jacked up truck in Oklahoma 😂
Little bourbon raffle right by our house in OK this morning…I am super happy with where I landed!
#Bourbon
As this is very much a labor of love/passion project, I’d certainly appreciate you helping me spread the word! I’m grateful we get to enter the waiting together.
I’ve written an intensely personal book on Advent & Christmas, called the Book of Waiting. With Advent starting this Sunday December 1st, I hope you’ll consider grabbing a copy:

Advent is a season of waiting. Waiting is universal, no matter who you are or where you come from or what you believe about anything—we are all waiting for something. Waiting is human; waiting is holy. Waiting doesn’t have to be wasted.

I understand. I’m pretty sure I cried an equal amount with Gilead and home?! I was equally undone by both of them.
