LRP: Oh hey, a reason to talk about Paradise Killer.
I actually like that the fast travel is tied to a currency that happens to be a finite resource that you use for everything. You end up with a bunch of money eventually but, until you reach that point, you can't just fast travel all the time.
Back before my spirit was crushed, I thought the popularity of Dark Souls would force a rethink of this. "I got lost in a swamp and then spent 4 hours dying over and over to the same boss, 10/10, game of the year".
Instead, we got "it's actually a challenge for epic gamers only, git gud casuals".
[CMYK] Nintendo 64 box art for a nonexistent Mario spin-off titled 'MARIO HOCKEY'. It depicts Mario & friends on a hockey rink. Mario is about to shoot a goal, which Donkey Kong is guarding. Peach is following closely behind. In the background, Wario tackles Luigi.
[CMYK] Identical, but without formatting.
I'm surprised this little gem rarely comes up in Mario spin-off conversation... I guess it was a pretty late release π«€

A three panel comic of Mr. Dark from the Rayman series with his hat removed and showing his true self to Rayman, or at least my headcanon of that idea. Mr. Dark's face is noseless, kinda skull-like, and black, with rainbow reflections on his face and long, flowing hair. The first panel has him triumphantly saying "Tada..." which Rayman then replies "Is that what you really look like?!" This response frustrates Mr. Dark, and the second panel shows him slightly annoyed as he responds "You sound... disappointed. Were you expecting some sort of nightmarish monster instead of the scarred visage of The First Hero of the Glade?". Rayman, off screen, says "No...I just wasn't expecting you to look this UGLY..." This causes Mr. Dark to fly into a rage in the third panel, with his hair resembling smoke as he immolates himself and yells "IRRITATING SNOT-NOSED LITTLE BRAT" while Rayman sneers at his face, completely unaffected by Mr. Dark's scary outburst. Despite the flames and the teeth, a rainbow is still reflected in his hair.
Mr. Dark tries to establish some common ground with Rayman by revealing his true form, immediately regrets it. (aka "here is my HC for what Mr. Dark looks like underneath his cool hat")

fyi the discord hacking has gotten more elaborate, the bots/hackers will reference old convos you have now to make it seem more real lmao, don't be stupid and just decline downloading/clicking anything.
Are you playing it in handheld mode or on a TV? I've noticed that there's a lot less input lag in handheld mode but then again it's been years.
Also the Switch version of this game is the best looking one on account they have to turn off all those weird textures and some shadows. It's so funny.

Jak from Jak and Daxter holding the muse - the original PS2 screenshot and my redraw of it
"Catch a muse" is an annoying enough sidequest, which is also memorable because of it. So, re-playing it now, I decided to redraw this screenshot to complete the circle of satisfaction.

Who am I kidding, had to do the set
are you fucking kidding me dude
Paradise Killer was so good that now I'm considering buying Promise Mascot Agency because I want more of this dev team's flavor of Weird.
Selfie of me standing with Tim Jacobus, holding up a sketch that he made with a Goosebumps sign in the background.
I met a childhood hero of mine today. Tim Jacobus is one of the major influences who inspired my love for making art. I remember being beyond wowed by the Goosebumps covers. I stared at the covers and tried to draw them, just as much as I spent time reading the books themselves. (If not more so)
Crimon Acid might be one of the coolest characters I've seen in my life. Has to hang out in the sewers because she wants peace and quiet from a life of being too sexy with her cool goat head and then she gives you a cult worshipper's eye and it's been turned into a CD. She ruled.
You don't understand...there were statues made out of cool purple stones in the shapes of goat skulls and human hands everywhere...
Was most of the game 1st person parkour to find all the various shiny objects? Yes.
Was the game stylish as hell while I was collecting shiny objects? Also yes.
It's been a couple days but already I miss Paradise Killer.
*sighs*

LRP: We should bring back Kurokyura and give Wario a fun lackey who is a vampire that summons bats by flipping people off.
Actually we should bring back ANYTHING from Mario Land 2 while we're at it...
In the Nintendo KΕshiki Guidebook, Kurokyura is kind of Wario's right hand man, helping him out.

Haha, you're not the first one to say that Mr. Dark is looking quite handsome in this.
Rayman's just being a little snot.
Semi-sequel to this.
I kinda want him to look like an extinguished fire - a dying ember - compared to Rayman being a little healthy ray of sunshine.
It's a fine balancing act to go "he immediately loses all of his aura once the hat comes off" while also making a design that's still kinda cool. I once went Full Disappointment by just making him another Rayman guy but unfortunately it was a little TOO lame...
Giving Mr. Dark an actual physical face that he hides was a real challenge because...nothing is going to look better than Mr. Dark's actual design.
And, because of that, I always liked the idea that a Mr. Dark face reveal isn't an ideal situation for anyone and vaguely disappointing.
