So many voices calling to stop the genocide in Gaza, but who is listening?

Alina Habbard posted: NOTHING CAN STOP THIS MAN FROM FIGHTING FOR HIS COUNTRY.
David Simon had a succinct 2-word response: “Bone spurs.”
NEW: A searing editorial in the The Kyiv Independent.
“It’s time to say it plainly. America’s leadership has switched sides in the war. The American people have not, and they should speak up.
“A president just disrespected America in the Oval Office. It wasn’t Zelensky.”

Nothing more satisfying than seeing the creativity of people in the resistance.
Decades of confirmation hearings where women testify to abuse and sexual violence, only for the men in question to rise to higher positions of power, is a perfect encapsulation of why more victims don’t come forward.
I've been seeing posts from 47's Latino voters who are confused because they thought they could trust his word.
Did they have different media because I thought 47's deportation plan was evident. He didn't seem to hide it. What am I missing?
This is how you say “go fuck yourself sideways with a porcupine” in inspector general speak.
Going to be interesting to see how the administration responds

CITY OF NEWARK = "Today, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents raided a local establishment in the City of Newark, detaining undocumented residents as well as citizens, without producing a warrant. One of the detainees is a U.S. military veteran who suffered the indignity of having the legitimacy of his military documentation questioned. This egregious act is in plain violation of the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees 'the right of the people be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures... "Newark will not stand by idly while people are being unlawfully terrorized. I will be holding a press conference in alliance with partners ready and willing to defend and protect civil and human rights. Details to come."
The Mayor of Newark says ICE detained citizens and a military veteran in a warrantless raid there today. www.newarknj.gov/news/mayor-r...
Good morning and Happy Thursday to everyone who agrees that if you don't want to be compared to Nazis, stop referencing shit from Hitler's speeches, stop supporting far-right extremists in Europe, and stop making Nazi hand gestures.
Can you not see what we mean?
Boy, if I was someone with autism I would be absolutely livid that the excuse for Musk doing a Nazi salute that people seem to be circling around is “he has autism, he can’t help himself”
Been a hot minute. Life feels so overwhelming. That's all. That's the whole message.
Why is a volunteer group working harder than city officials in keeping unhoused people warm and safe this winter? The bylaws are clear- this IS a municipal responsibility.
Who is going to move there for this project? I can't see the population being high enough to support these new facilities. I'll need to follow this story.
"Something that seems fundamental to me about ChatGPT which gets lost over and over again: When you inter text into it, you're asking "what would a response to this sound like?"...But people keep wanting the "say something that sounds like an answer" machine to be doing something else, and believing it *is* doing something else.
My daughter, who's an ivy leaguer who's well aware of the phenomenon of ivy leaguers spouting BS & who seriously studied computer science made the following observation.
(Basically for ChatGPT hallucinations are a major feature, not a bug:
Honest questions- Aren't Republicans against big government interfering with business? Are they using national security threats as a way to justify their interference? Isn't their goal to let capitalism run freely, or is that only with USA investors?
Donald trump is making these cabinet nominations in a way that says he's not taking it seriously at all, almost like he's just picking names out of a hat.
Regardless of party affiliation, we should be VERY concerned that he's appointing unqualified idiots in almost every area.

Europe’s wolves will lose their “strict protection” status, alarming conservationists who fear for the survival of an animal brought back from the brink of local extinction.
The downgrade was welcomed by hunters but prompted outrage from nature groups.

Every time I read about banning books, I think of this:
Reading a book with a gay character will not make you gay any more than reading a book about Einstein will make you a genius.
If you're afraid that books might change someone's thinking, you're not afraid of books — you're afraid of thinking.
How have literal billionaires convinced so many Americans that the people picking their strawberries are the villains
Imagine being more outraged about a pardoned son than a convicted felon as leader of the free world
Where can I move that is fibro friendly?
Steady weather is all I ask. These big temperature and barometric pressure changes are wickedly painful. Ooohhh 😞

I love the couple of hours between the girls’ bedtime and mine. Just the low hum of the house at rest and Maya snoring softly beside me as I study or write.
This is the life I’ve been working for.
This is controversial, it IS extreme, and we will fight this tooth and nail.
Fuck this bullshit.
I had an AHA! moment after my last post.
I have unrealistic expectations of living with fibro. There are strategies that help me function and curb my pain.
I get frustrated that I continue to need those accommodations. If they work, shouldn't I be able to go without?
Make it make sense.
This has nothing to do with the effort educators and students put in. Until there is systemic and institutional change, until accommodations are fully accepted, we will continue to see people of all ages and abilities struggle needlessly.
On paper, in conversation, we want everyone to be compassionately met where they are. We want a caring society where no matter the barrier, everyone can meaningfully contribute to their community.
We have to ask if the current system is promoting or hindering this goal.
It's a bit like asking a diabetic to give up their medication now that their A1C is better controlled. Or to throw away your glasses because they help you see. Can you hear how ridiculous that sounds?
