Thank you. Yeah the surgeon said it would pretty much be right at the base to avoid having any issues with the spine or incontinence. She says recovery is pretty quick 10 to 14 days. I just worry because she’s almost 16 and has so many other health problems. I really have to think about it.
has anyone dealt with a tail amputation on an older cat? Amelia has a lump on her tail that bleeds from time to time. She’s already seen the vet for it a few times. We’ve been keeping it wrapped and clean. Guess is it’s a type of cancer. Tail amputation would be the option available.
One a day helped lower my cats kidney values a little. So it’s for sure something to try.
it could be that! Very common in cats with kidney issues. They’re often chronically dehydrated. Definitely something my kitties have gone through. Anti-nausea Meds are also good for this situation. It’ll help keep them from throwing up and feeling nauseous from the constipation. Go get some rest!
I’m no vet, but just from 30 years of experience with cats with various medical needs. The one thing I know is it’s better that they eat something, than nothing. So if he needs a few days of a different food, try it. If possible, mix his old food with the new food.
He may still actually be nauseous. I’ve had a couple of cats with kidney disease over the years, and they will often have nausea, but not actually show symptoms of it. They want to eat, but it makes them feel icky. Sometimes they have a “safe” food, like the chicken he likes.
OK, so he has kidney disease, correct? Anti-nausea medication and an appetite stimulant would be good to have on hand if you don’t have it already. Do you have any Purina HydraCare? That’s also very good at keeping kidney disease cats hydrated.
Do you have an appetite stimulant and anti-nausea meds for him? I don’t recall what’s wrong with him, but if you don’t have those, ask your vet for a prescription for them.
He’s got some good whiskers! One of his siblings chewed all of his whiskers off when he was a baby. So I wasn’t even sure they would grow back.
Bowie was such a good boy for his intake exam for blood donation. He was nervous at first, but some cuddles and churu got him flopping on his back for belly rubs. He’s a good goofy baby. I’m happy he gets to help other kitties in need. Cat blood donation is very badly needed in the PNW.
Hey all. I should have some art to post within a week. In the meantime, Cat update! Flapjack has been having more IBD issues. 🙁Amelia was diagnosed with HCM and hypertension, but is now on meds and doing well. Bowie is officially a blood donor cat for a local vet hospital! And Rosie is perfect. ❤️

The new passes are not as good as the ones they had before COVID. I stopped buying them when they changed. If I lived in the area it would be different, but as an out of state pass holder, they're meh.
Spyro Jr UPDATE: Vet appointment scheduled for tomorrow along with two other pets. Yuki needs her shots updated and I have another VERY sick cat Guno that needs to be seen for a bad cold. Please I really NEED the HELP to handle three pets going in...
