Cyprus is a #biodiversity hotspot with a lot of endemic pollinator species. These pollinators are extremely important for maintaining natural habitats and supporting #agriculture, but their populations are in decline due to habitat loss, pesticide use and climate change.
The Cyprus University of Technology hosted two citizen science events: a workshop to identify #pollinators and a monitoring activity.

The children could also participated in several activities to learn more about DNA as a tool for species identification.
During an event organised by the School of Biology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) more than 250 children and adults stopped by the BGE booth. Here they learned more about the BGE project and the global biodiversity crisis.
