Red action-alert graphic with a megaphone illustration and bold white headline reading “Breaking News.” Text states: “Senate votes to approve dangerous amendment to HB 54” and “Contact your House Rep Now.” A text box explains that HB 54 was amended to further restrict access to medical care for transgender youth and deny coverage for transgender Georgians of all ages under the State Employee Health Benefit Plan. The white Georgia Equality logo with the trans pride colors appears in the bottom right.
🚨 ACTION ALERT: This afternoon, HB 54 was hijacked in the State Senate to restrict access to medical care for trans Georgians, including youth & those of all ages covered by the State Health Benefit Plan.

Image of Camp X-Ray at Guantanamo Bay from 1991, showing row after row of people laying on cots in an airplane hangar.
The closest modern historical parallel is the detention camp at Guantanamo Bay for intercepted Cubans and Haitians during the HW Bush and Clinton administrations, where at maximum capacity roughly 12,000 migrants were detained. But those migrants were never in the physical US.

ICE to begin detaining immigrants inside Social Circle warehouse in April
Homeland Security plans to build warehouse detention facilities in other cities being met with opposition.
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.
If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

"SB 74 does not concern LGBT issues. Code section 16-12-103 does not say anything about LGBT," one parent in favor claims.
She's right– because code section 16-12-102 is the one which establishes a definition targeting homosexuality, which 16-12-103 relies on.
Reading comprehension is important!

In 2025, Georgia became the state with the highest rate of new HIV diagnoses in the country, meaning we play a key role in ending the HIV epidemic.
We at GA Equality honor those who were taken too soon by HIV by continuing to fight for the rights of those living with HIV & for their access to care.

In the bottom right corner is the white Georgia Equality logo with the a stripe in the red HIV ribbon colors in the middle.
Today is World AIDS Day, a day to honor the lives of those affected by HIV.
This year in particular, we're at a critical moment for the HIV response. That's why we're urging people to honor World AIDS Day 2025 by telling Congress to ensure access to critical HIV care.

A graphic with a light brown background. At the top in black text reads, "“I knew Mari as a fellow gender expansive person and a fellow advocate... [but] she is not just another statistic. She was important to many including her family and her fellow students. She served visibly as the President of the KSU Pride Alliance in a time where KSU and other universities are complying in advance and rolling back protections for and the dignity of certain students.”
Below on the left is a photo of Noël, a blonde person wearing a patterned collared shirt, with Marisol, a woman wearing a green floral dress and black hat.
On the right side in black text reads, "“We will miss your light, Mari...
Our love and prayers go to your family, and we will work hard to ensure you have a strong and lasting legacy as you deserve. We commit to fighting against transphobia in all its forms and calling out politicians when they say and do harmful things.
May your memory be both a blessing and an inspiration to co-create a more inclusive and safer society for all of us – trans people, immigrants, and all of us.”
Behind every name is a person, a story, & a life cut too short.
This year, GA Equality's organizing manager, Noël Heatherland, wrote about TDORR & reflected on one life cut too short– Marisol Payero, a trans advocate & KSU student leader who passed recently.
