The Cellarium

The 300ft vaulted ceiling of the cellarium is one of the best surviving features of Fountains Abbey, North Yorkshire, UK and certainly one of the most photographed.

The Cellarium

One of my go to places is Fountains Abbey, North Yorkshire, UK. Often without a camera just to walk through the ruins or the Deer Park.

This is the Cellarium, a masterpiece of engineering given that the Abbey was founded in 1132, this must have been built soon after.
