Protest surveillance: What State Police saw from the sky as we spoke against killings by federal agents Shortly after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents shot Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, I went to downtown Boston to take part in protests at the State House and at City Hall Plaza. I’ve been to several protests in the past 14 months. These were notable... A view from a helicopter, showing a portion of the roof of Boston City Hall and a crowd of protesters in the plaza.

To my surprise, the State Police response to my public records request included more than an hour of video taken from the helicopter over the protest at the federal building on January 10.

Potentially of interest, there were -four- people on the roof of city hall. They operated the drone.

The AG found National Grid inflates your customer charge with costs that don't belong there. Asked them to show the math.

They said they couldn't.

They could when they raised your rates 57%.

I filed an amendment to make them show you. The House wouldn't record the vote. Four stood. Out of 160.

"LAPD illegally shared License Plate Reader data with ICE over 100 times in just one month" is a good reminder that a departmental policy is not as secure as (a) not having mass surveillance, and (b) not having our camera feeds accessible by DHS/Feds/ICE.

A new tone at Somerville City Hall One word being tossed around among Somerville City Council watchers to describe the first few meetings of 2026 is β€œchummy.” It’s a palpable change from the unsubtle barbs, simmering grudges and occasional outright bullying that have characterized the past few years up on Central Hill. The mood...

🚦Very glad to see momentum finally building to allow camera-based traffic safety enforcement (with critical privacy protections). Somerville and neighboring cities have been advocating for this legislation for many years - let’s get it done.

Some local police, sheriff and DA offices are communicating often with ICE, records show In one instance, a sheriff's office sent an entire list of sentenced individuals just 12 minutes after ICE requested the information.

"So when people say our police department doesn’t work with ICE, that’s just not true. There’s no city in the country where they would never work with ICE"

Somerville to decrease budget by $5 million, residents share priorities in community hearing - The Tufts Daily The Somerville city budget is expected to be reduced by nearly $5 million this year due to a slowing economy and federal funding cuts.
