This is an interesting article and patrimonialism is definitely part of the picture here. The work of sociologist Julia Adams builds on Weber in original and interesting ways and should definitely be on your reading lists.

As @jvl.bsky.social pointed out, Harris ran a smart campaign. She was a solid candidate. Trump ran a disastrous campaign and is in clear decline. This was a clear choice. No matter who wins, half of voters either chose bigotry and authoritarianism, or had no problem with it. And thatβs hard to take.
Thereβs a lot that the democrats could have done differently. Personally I would have liked them to go far left rather than try to court moderate voters. But I get the strategy; βmaybe we can give people an out if they personally find Trump gross.β But the thing is,
Sure! Thanks for sharing :)

The Incubator is a network bringing together an interdisciplinary group of established and emerging scholars whose academic work in the humanities, creative arts, media and technology studies, policy, and social and natural sciences is primarily concerned with issues of justice/injustice, the imposition of power and the exercise of agency. It is open to all those who consider their academic work to be activist-, advocacy- or justice-oriented, taking place on a local or international scale.
