OTOH, one of my favourite tropes is in Nordic Britain/Labour Forever scenarios where the Labour PMs are mid-level apparatchiks or people who are OTL trade union officials - which would make a lot of sense in such a scenario!

I watched him turn out for York City when I was commentating for Leamington FC at university. Delighted that he's still making headlines. Not that he was doing that too much in his time at York City.
To be fair, McGrath performed a lot better against McConnell than the lean of the state - also helped by McConnell being really fucking old. Big issue is definitely them having a Pet Candidate Who Loses All The Time, which voters fucking hate. Remember Dino Rossi?
Especially after Sorkin left when the showrunner was Literally the Guy from ER.
You can also see this in Sports Night, Studio 60, Newsroom. Everything Sorkin writes is "what if I was the coolest guy in the office...but I have a FLAW..."
Entirely there myself. A few drinks today and I'm almost asleep
Make it a great one. And most of all...win.
@michaelkeshani.bsky.social Happy birthday mate. Make it 30 for 30 today (can be 250ml bottles not pints)
276/282. Remembered all the Lord Privy Seal/Leader of the House of Lords-es, but got let down by Welsh Secretaries. Also, who on earth was "Shailesh Vara?"
It was 2015. I led Labour to one of the worst results in school history- 36%, 29/60 seats. I think in every mock election before since they've got about 60% of the vote.
Was lost in thought thinking about my opening remarks for the whole-school mock election debate, tripped on a staircase, for some reason turned to grab the bannister, missed, fractured the wrist of my writing hand six weeks before A-Levels
Back in the UK, screaming crying throwing up because you can't buy OΕΎujsko anywhere, bar 2.50 a can at "Hampstead Food & Drink"
10 days in Croatia- will be sad to leave
Popped in to make a few deposits and nobody had heard of you all. Big shame.
Yeah, I hear that. Apparently the new art is more true to the manga, in which case, fair enough, but it doesn't have quite the same appeal for us as it did before. The episode where they visit about fifteen suspension bridges was very tourist-y, yeah.
Actively finding it quite dull at this stage. Which is a shame, because the first two series and the film were really beautifully made
Logging into bluesky to ask a weeb question: does anyone else think the third series of Laid Back Camp is just...kind of bad? The characters don't behave the same way they used to, and the trips feel very laboured- especially the "flashback/memory world" trip with the OutClub members.
Words cannot describe how frustrating it is to be re-watching 30 Rock on ITVX because it isn't on a proper streaming channel
Wrexham. Currently getting near Chester.
Kings Cross is shut today, so the East Coast mainline isn't an option- no Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Newcastle. Serendipitous, some would argue
Leaving the house in 30 minutes for this year's Soccer Saturday challenge. Updates on where we end up to follow
Remain obsessed with the dropped alien sideplot in Happy Feet
You're 18. You play for Rosenborg. Approximately 1500 people have watched you play and they're all online. You're not LeBron James.
This Sverre Nypan bloke is such an ATTENTION SEEKER. Do not want him or his weird entourage anywhere near this club with all this ludicrous carry-on. I know he's guaranteed to go elsewhere and turn out to be the next Bellingham but it's just so BORING.
There are points of failure and atm everyone is knackered and it exacerbates them. But people want a magic bullet and get upset when there isn't one
I know just the man for Canada:
Imagine Starmer resigned and the election to replace him included Rachel Reeves, Wes Streeting, Andrew Bailey, Owen Jones, and Andy Burnham
Other mooted candidates include the former Governor of the Bank of Canada, and the former Premier of British Columbia - who led a party also called the Liberal Party, but with no connection to the party that governs Canada at the moment.
I love Canadian leadership elections, because anyone can run in them. In fact, it's often a plus to not be in Parliament! If this was the UK, the Liberal leadership race would be a fairly dull competition between Freeland and a few other Cabinet ministers, but here anything can happen
Bleak realisation: I'm now older than Cyrus from Pokemon Diamond & Pearl. He'd achieved so much already. I've wasted my life....
