There are over 1200 protests across the US today! Iβm starting to see the videos roll in.

If you hear anything else about this, please let me know. I would gladly travel in order to demonstrate.
The month of March was punctuated by gaining citizenship and a visit to the Vendicari nature reserve.
And if I still had time after rescuing the cat, Iβd go back in and save the chair the cat was sitting on.
So happy to announce that today we were officially recognized as Italian citizens!
Space Karen gave me a chuckle. I bet he hates this.
Todayβs good things: Siracusa celebrates 20 years as a UNESCO World Heritage Site by opening the tunnels under the piazza duomo and exhibiting a model of an early temple.
Todayβs good things: I got caught up with a friend Iβve been missing. And I went to a movie theater for the first time since moving to Italy. It was so beautiful! Iβm looking forward to going again.
Todayβs good things: Did a practice tour with friends and really felt, for the first time since moving, that I have created real friendships here. Pictured is a bunny seen at the Temple of Apollo and the beautiful Italian children who showed it to me. I really miss being around children.
Was privileged to visit the Vendicari Nature Reserve today and saw more flamingos! Such a beautiful place.
Todayβs good things: News about effective protests ππΌ - go world! Perfect weather for a day at the archeological park. I never get tired of it.
I can feel the shift. Italy, together with the rest of Europe, is shifting left. There are 5 progressive referendums coming up and I donβt think it will stop there.
Happy International Womenβs Day! I spent it at the Paolo Orsi Museum (free today).
Trumpβs Ukraine policy reads like Putinβs dream for a Russian asset:
βοΈSpread propaganda that Ukraine started the war
βοΈCut off military aid
βοΈBlock intel sharing
βοΈDemean Zelenskyy in the Oval Office
βοΈWeaken US alliances with Europe
Who benefits? Putin. Who loses? Us.
βIn Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.β
Todayβs good things: Comparing my ID photo from just prior to leaving the US vs. my new ID photo - so much change in my face! More evidence that this move has been scary at times, but is definitely worth it.
Todayβs good things: Got lots of rest. Did a good deed. And enjoyed a baroque concert in a beautiful old church with my favorite violinist. This is a pretty great life.
1Mβ¬ vanity project - a completely superfluous bridge. At least weβre not in bed with Russia (yet).
Happy Losar (Tibetan New Year)! DΓΆn Season was gentle for me this year and the new year has had an auspicious start. I made a nice meal for my neighbors including this unusual asparagus from the farmers market. Also pictured are pretty floral arrangements from a hotel lobby.
Todayβs good things: Enjoyed a nice walk in the sun to collect some photos for my website. And the new bakery by my house is fantastic. (Pictured baked goods came to β¬3,30)
Todayβs good things: Iβve been fortunate to spend time with people coming from all walks of life and from different parts of the world lately. It makes a healthy counter to the xenophobia happening in my birth country.
Oh my gosh. Thatβs horrible. I donβt know what to say.
Todayβs good things: Despite the dystopian novel we all find ourselves living in, I had a really great day out with friends for a delicious lunch. There is beauty here at every turn. And I got a chuckle from the sentence Google translate thought I needed.
Todayβs (and yesterdayβs) good things: A friend took me shoe shopping and now I can get rid of the ones with holes! I got my residency permit renewal application turned in. And I thoroughly enjoyed the best caffΓ¨ shakerato Iβve ever had.
Iβm grateful to whomever brought this wine that didnβt end up being consumed at our holiday party. Tonightβs Italian class broke my brain π. Also, it looks like I might need a new corkscrew.
And the Chair is a friend of a friend of mine. Weβve got a much more progressive DNC than I ever expected. ππΌ
This is the 3rd one Iβve read about this week! Itβs almost as though we needed all those FAA staff that were fired.
Todayβs good things: Roman is safely back at school (and I already miss him terribly). It was the last day of celebrating St. Sebastian (Siracusaβs second patron). I donβt think I will ever not be in awe of the beauty of this place.
Save this and KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
Todayβs good things: A short adventure to nearby Augusta. Explored a Spanish fortress and saw the famous flamingos. Finished our day with dinner out at a steakhouse! (Eating out is a rarity for us.)
