Note the difference between neighbors protecting neighbors in Minneapolis, and domestic terrorists attempting to start life-threatening shit in NYC.

When I was a kid, I had to find things to distract me from being bored.

Now, I imagine, kids/grown-ups have to work hard to to not spend all their time from being distracted by bullshit. Good knows I do.

This is the central tactic of bigotry, worming it's way into the media when the media has no interest in telling the long-view, and the public has no interest in considering the long-view.

THE COMPLAINING IS THE POINT!

How about dragging Hegseth into Bengazi-level hearings about this until he collapses from DTs?

A presidential candidate who supports recognizing The Hague's jurisdiction retroactively would probably get my vote.

It's one thing to question, "Why are evil people also so stupid?" and a better question to ask, "Why are stupid people empowered to do evil things?"

But they can, because evil is more correlative with stupid.

Why not increase NPR's funding massively? Wide distribution, international footprint, decentralized control, and non-profit (so big tax break for donors). Huge opportunity for NPR to pick up journalistic talent, if it had the resources to do so. Seems better than starting from scratch.

This applies to Senate and House candidates too.

How far back in time can you understand English? An experiment in language change

If you liked this experiment, I published a full piece today in the same vein: a text that gets 100 years older with every section, from a modern blog post to a medieval chronicle.

It's a single story spanning 1000 years of English. See how far you get.
