Since 1975, over 84 NRPs have been providing the scientific basis for solutions to the major challenges of our time.
Good question and no easy answer. Maybe this paper helps. They found 4 important barriers and four facilitators.

600–800 children are born with congenital heart disease each year in Switzerland. Instead of mice, Marco Osterwalder’s team at the University of Bern uses heart #organoids and AI to study heart development.

Humans produce many chemicals, which are released into the environment. To ensure they’re safe, over 3 million fish are used annually for testing. A team at Eawag is working to replace these tests with new approach methods (NAMs) – with great success.
