i've been a little quiet since i've been on vacation for most of december, which was super restful but i'm also excited to be back on the grind!

late new year post! 2025 was definitely a year of firsts for me - started my first full-time job, won my first game jam, launched a demo on Steam for the first time, and took part in an interview about my game! here's to learning more in 2026 and continuing to grow the world of Floramino <3
should #FlowerFriday be a thing? πΌ heh. well, introducing the workhorse of Floramino: the Daisy!
Daisies are one of the fastest growing flowers in Floramino & the perfect size to fit into those awkward corners. they won't grow your reputation as a gardener fast, but they sure are handy! #cozygames

A digital illustration of a red-haired woman in a green dress kneeling next to a white-haired man hunched over himself as she drives a sword into his back. There are flames on the edge of her dress and in the foreground, while the man's hand is lightly over a dagger. In the background, backlighting the scene, are large stained glass windows.

i will say, there's gonna be some cleanup/refactoring to be done after the demo... i feel like this happens whenever we're running up against a deadline, it just becomes "okay just fix it as fast as you can"
but hey if it works it works
T-MINUS 10 HOURS TO FLORAMINO DEMO RELEASE π³
honestly, i'm really nervous?! it's my first time releasing a game on steam, first time designing & implementing a project of this scale... i'm like nervous for other people to see the result HAHA
no matter what i think we did our best!!!

we also have been adding a few new flowers!!! which i have been making my friends playtest. live & recorded playtests are so enlightening!!!
added the floramino tutorial today, did it quick and simple in like 15 minutes :,) sometimes it really is about making it exist first & making it good later π₯Ή
grandma's got a lot of junk in her attic! π¦ including a few easter eggs to other Studio Lavacado titles... #indiegames #puzzlegames #gamedev

i want to be more active on here so i might make a thread sometime about some of my process (even just to document it! game dev is lots of fun and i want to be able to look back on the process haha)
anyway, i'm very happy that i've been able to pace myself a lot better for floramino :D i also hope it'll result in a better game, since i've been able to get feedback and continue to polish features iteratively :p
in the past, iβve always had a bad habit of leaving stuff til the last minute and then finishing it all in a caffeine-fueled sprint. for our last long-term project, i did practically nothing for 5 months and then went from barely anything to finished game in less than a week
