In Autumn 2023 I wrote a supportive plea to both ER Council and the last Conservative UK Gov to support the Retail Trust’s application to build these facilities, and thanks to their support along with a range of other partners, including many in the private sector, this has come to fruition today.
I was delighted to be given a tour of the newly completed upgrade works to Crookfur House in the Hugh Fraser Estate.
These facilities have transformed a building which had fallen out of use into a great 'village centre' for community groups, estate residents and residents in Newton Mearns to enjoy.
Please note that for the year ahead my surgeries have changed day and time to fit the availability of Council venues.

Serving in elected politics at any level is a privilege and these two incidents, I believe, point toward the need for a serious debate as to why parties are struggling to attract dedicated individuals of high calibre covering working hours, perceptions, fair access and other such barriers.
Given this has happened twice in the space of a few weeks, some political parties are clearly selecting unsuitable candidates without appropriate background checks.
It begs the question - are they scraping the barrel because they have nobody else to put up?
