I feel like I exhaust my therapist :')

I don’t really have anything new or clever to say about the horror of bombing civilians. What more needs to be said. There’s no glory or beauty in the destruction. I don’t think it proves how strong and noble our country is. Just how cruel, ruthless and heartless it can be

It's not a new experience to encounter cognitive dissonance from someone who claims to care about the BIPOC and queer people around them and yet also supports an ideology that seeks to erase those same groups. It isn't surprising, but it still really stinks.

Interestingly, this person said that their spouse (a representative) has received serious threats from their own party for being too "moderate" on some issues and that they are alarmed by "radical" ideology from the right.

Of course, they are also concerned about 'radical leftist' ideology, too.

If you're wondering how this person responded:
- They suggested that Kirk was 'taken out of context'
- They insisted that no one is 'born' gay
- They stopped responding when I sent direct quotes of Kirk and my own experiences with racism
- They said I was one of their favorite students. Go figure.

I have so many moments where I think "Man, we need a qualified professional for this" and I have to remind myself that I am a professional and possess ✨️knowledge✨️.

Self doubt stinks!

Me, after talking about the very thing I have a Master's degree and several credentials in: "Um, but that's just my opinion. I'm not too sure."

Imposter syndrome is so!!!

Immigrants are not taking anything from you. Destroy the cop in your head, stop listening to propaganda. They're being kidnapped, killed, beaten and left on the side to perish.

A lot of them don't even have all the benefits/jobs you claim they're stealing

I'm doing all this blabbing to say that your efforts matter, too. No matter how small or insignificant it may feel, your existence is meaningful, and you have the power to make a lasting impact even in a deeply broken world.

A client said "I can genuinely say I love you! Thank you!" this evening, and I'm so glad the camera was off because I might have started to cry.

I often feel like I fail to make a difference in this broken world, but moments like these remind me that the efforts matter and are felt

The work I do is sometimes hard, but I got to hear someone who cried on the phone last week say "Thank you" with so much relief and joy that it made the stress feel worth it.
