Apparently in your thirties you donβt recover quickly when you fall on your ass

bluesky being immediately negatively polarized into going with skeets because we were asked not to was the first sign that we were going to make it as a posting site

I think people believe the point of progressive politics is to try to convince malicious, bad-faith bigots to not be violent, instead of defanging their movements and making them politically irrelevant.
It's not about "saving the souls of the lost". It's about making sure their harm is mitigated.
That's because they coddle them too much now. Back in my day, it only took 20 years for T-Rexes to fully mature, because they had discipline. Spare the rod, spoil the terrible tyrant lizard.

Most likely outcome is that asshole dies of old age and leaves everyone else to clean up his mess, capping an 80 year run of never experiencing consequences. Only in America baby!
There is a growing sickness in the Republican Party that spawns this virulent hatred.
Replace 'Muslims' with any other faith & this man would be run out of Congress.
Their tolerance for this bigotry is a cancer in their ranks. Hate, in all its forms, should find no refuge here.
Reminder to tip your delivery drivers a lot more as most are suffering a huge loss with these higher gas prices.
The Bottom Line In many ways, the room in Charlotte felt familiar. Itβs what I hear in cities across the country every week. But the intensity feels different. The exhaustion is deeper. And hearing the word βsurvivalβ replace βlivingβ β that still stops me. The affordability crisis is the master key. Every other issue β mental health, healthcare, war, civic engagement β runs through it. When youβre working three jobs and canβt miss a day, every policy failure lands exponentially harder. Withdrawal is the gravest threat. Not a partisan swing. Not apathy. Active withdrawal by good people who work hard, care about their neighbors, and have simply run out of capacity to carry the weight of a system that doesnβt carry them back. But trust is rebuildable. These young people arenβt cynically anti-government. They named specific local leaders they admire. The formula is brutally simple: promise something, deliver it, let them see it. One broken promise poisons the system. One kept promise can start to repair it. And the partisan divide? Itβs thinner than it looks. A MAGA Republican and a Jill Stein voter sat in the same room on a Saturday morning in Charlotte and discovered they wanted many of the same things. Too much of our politics depends on people never having that realization. When they do, the overlap is hard to ignore.

It's real.
Historians are quite capable of explaining the hellscape that is the US at this particular minute, and its kind of telling that you imagine we won't because it means you haven't been listening or reading
Every time a woman runs for president I hear that sheβs too emotional and unstable to make wartime decisions, unlike the men in charge who make really reasonable decisions like bombing kids to death, starting water wars, and poisoning the entire planet
Gov. Cox signed a bill early Saturday morning targeting Better Boundaries' effort asking Utahns to remove their signature from an initiative that seeks to end Utahs gerrymandering ban.

Anyway, here is a handy guide to getting started with ALT text. It's an important way we can make people with visual impairments or neurological processing issues feel welcome on bluesky. bsky.app/profile/cats...
my theory of the Harris campaign, which makes exactly nobody happy:
1. she was put in an incredibly deep and arguably insurmountable hole by Biden
2. she made significant errors, largely in not separating herself from him enough
3. her results were still in the upper range of plausible outcomes

The Utah legislature tried more last-minute shenanigans to split Salt Lake County (the main Dem county in the state) but failed by 5 seconds. Karma
& Muted by "A Very British Bigotry" I am in no way antiTrans. But
Many such cases
Also this would have been hilarious βoh no riverton secedes making Salt Lake County even Bluer? β
Would this be a good copypasta or is that the edible talking

I find relitigation of past elections mostly unproductive.
But with VP Harris she said that itβs her intention to run again. So for people that support her, I think that in order to strengthen her as a candidate it is necessary to hold her accountable for her past failures rather than deflecting.
editor's note: it was in fact her job
didn't you hear me I said we don't want any more remakes
