Oh god she's still around?
We're on an island and we find...Vicki Boykis washed up on the shore tangled in seaweed?
No no no, just push her back into the sea and go on with your day, people.
Push and go.
No, no, no. We cannot be doing this in 2026.

Building your website likely cost far in excess of the $20 you paid already.
Far, far in excess.
My issue is that people don't seem to realize this and have just pushed compute costs out of their mind as any real concern at all.

This was **incredibly** off-putting.
Worse was feeding time, especially the pie.
The thing about the pie is it was a **family size fruit pie** that you dropped into Maude's gullet whole as she grunted and squealed.
It would make a "thurrrup" sound, and before you knew it it was gone.
So bizarre.

There is nothing quite like walking into a gorgeous -- I mean gorgeous -- faux Eichler only to see...a full-sized sow wandering around the house making noises the entire way.
Maude was "a talker."
But the issue with pigs is they cannot make soothing sounds, only variations of grunts and squeals.

An age of morons.
When I was in college I knew an old gay couple who had a pig, Maude, that was supposed to be a miniature pig.
Maude was a full-sized sow that lived in a gorgeous faux Eichler.
Maude was fed pie on Tue/Thu, and I do mean pie: she would open her mouth and a whole pie would go in.

Watching these **junkie moron freaks** realize that, when they told us with that smug grin that "token costs are falling," it was all delusion and cope will be quite gratifying.
These fucking people **destroyed an entire profession in a matter of months!**

Worse, what has all this waste accomplished you **junkie moron freaks?**
What?
Well...it's destroyed software as a profession. Very soon you're going to look up from your Claude bender and realize you no longer have a job or hope of another one.
I hope it was worth it, you **junkie moron chuds!**

Imagine what this looks like over six mos.!
You **fucking junkie morons** are paying $200/mo., but consuming $5000 x 6 in compute, so $30000! Or more!
For what? For your MCP servers/moltbots?
And you find me rude when I call you all fucking junkie morons pulling a slot machine 5000 times a day?

An aside: this is the stupidest waste of resources I've seen in my career.
Anyone using Claude today is just drinking from a firehose of compute, and paying for none of it. No wonder you morons are having your mind blown by Claude: you're paying $200 for thousands in compute!
Jfc!

When that Claude subscription goes from $200/mo. to $5000/mo. we're going to see some real soul searching, and a whole lot of Claude junkies in withdrawal scratching themselves.
I can't wait.

Good for you, I'm just out.
Truly do not see how tech survives in any recognizable form over the next 2-5 years. Between AI, AI used as an excuse for layoffs, the coming market collapse/recession, misc. political instability, tariffs affecting every biz, well...it'll be a bloodbath for years.

Really important that Seattle build more, build cheaper, and build faster.
The current attitude of "let's just fuck around forever" really needs to end. Sound Transit needs a real reorg.

Tech jobs are getting demolished in ways not seen since 2008 and the dot-com bust
It's a rough time to be looking for a tech job. Economist Joseph Politano said losses in the industry outpaced those in the last two recessions.
I keep saying: the future of tech jobs is no tech jobs.
Expect anywhere from 1/4-1/2 headcount reduction overall, and that will be permanent, people. In the US we're already seeing more offshoring as there are virtually no labor laws, and any that exist formally aren't enforced.
If you can, run.

I mean, of course...I'm so old I was taught R **before** RStudio even existed.
But it's fascinating to see it still around.
Of course, if some pockets of data science can remain by using this old ass language, while Claude dinosaur-izes the rest? More power to them.

Pretty clear we've been in a recession since Q2 2025, it's just the bourses are delusional and the right wing-owned press always pretends things are better than they are when a Republican is in the executive.

How do we think this will go? I'm so surprised that R is even still around; really bizarre that such an antiquated language with such a cancerous assortment of addons and no API standardization hasn't withered and died.
So much productivity to he had here, such headcount reductions, too.
