Freedom of Religion is a hot topic right now.

Remember that Roger Williams and William Penn to a lesser extant founded their colonies with guarantees of freedom of concience.

Williams specifically mentioned Muslims and Jews when discussing this and guaranteed them the right to practice.

And Boston was most certainly not a place of religious freedom at the time!

Williams founded Providence after being exiled from Mass because of his religious beliefs. (Which included properly paying the natives for land)

Even the Puritans allowed Muslims. Your example is even stronger than mine!

In 1638 Roger Williams guaranteed freedom of concience for all (including and specifically referencing Muslims in his writings) in the charter for the city of Providence Rhode Island.

To prohibit anyone because of their beliefs is what is anti-American.

One of Trumps failures in dealing with Iran is the same issue that baffles him when dealing with Massie or Paul.

Trump and his closest advisors are all transactional when it comes to actions.

He doesnt know how to deal with "true believers" Iran is unlikely to pretend to surrender.

Dems have the opportunity to add the funniest thing to their DHS reform bill.

Even if we accept his repentance as legitimate and offer redemption, his judgment is still in question.

I am all for redemption in the face of repentance.

But, if someone shows they do not have the skills or judgment for a specific task, we shouldn't let them try again!

Find another role.

(For low volume maybe just 1 car is needed)

Ride bike to nearest station, load onto train, lock in place. Get in passenger compartment

At destination do opposite.

Could even combine rail for this with multiuse trail nearby for maximum efficiency.

Obviously requires more thought.

Idea for semi-rural areas:

Mini stations 10 or so miles apart. Station basically a flat loading area with a bus-stop like shelter. Nothing more needed.

2 car trains operated semi-automously like at an airport.

1 car for passengers, 1 car for bikes.

App for tickets/scheduling

Trains and bicycles together could create an incredibly robust personal transportation solution.

Bicycles mean that travel up to 5 miles is relatively easy. (30 min for a slower rider)

Combined with a semi-autonomous train system with a bike car, would vastly increase this range.

I think we are both somewhat agreed though that the common interpretation is flawed.

Wasn't trying to disafmgeee with you in the 1st comment.

I am approaching it as an actual event, faithfully described.

Looking at the text alone, and comparing to the OT and temple practice of ritual purity/holiness.

I see Jesus concern simply being "THIS doesnt belong HERE" without any commentary on whether THIS is inherently wrong.

I wasn't saying it was exploitative.

One could argue that the issue was only WHERE the commerce was happening.

IE, it was only an issue because Jesus viewed commerce as "common" rather than "holy" and thus should have been done outside of the temple grounds.

(Common is not the same as sinful)

Studded Tires

Are amazing. Can ride on a sheet of slick ice without any worries.

Weatherizatiion.

-protect the drivetrain!

Much of my frustration with drivetrains is largely caused because they are completely exposed to the elements.

Current tech might be sufficient if the drivetrain was enclosed.

Also heated? In winter, heating elements of the drivetrain might help.

On bike storage.

Panniers mounted on racks are a solution. They are not a great solution.

Storage needs to become part of the frame design. Well designed storage compartments can be structural, aerodynamic, and secure. Could also be used to route exposed cabling, chain to protect from weather.

Bike lighting systems.
-No truly great options.

This should be
-integrated or semi-permanent.
-lights and batteries should be separate!
-batteries should power all lights at once. (I should only need to charge one battery, not 3 devices)
-turn signals on mirrors! Please let me have turn signals.

Get on and ride philosophy.
-bicycles do not come with NECESSARY parts for regular transportation.
-Lights, on bike storage, fenders, helmet storage, mirrors, good tires, emergency Tool kit etc. These ARE NOT OPTIONAL, yet must be purchased seperately.

Drivetrains are awful.

We need drivetrains that do not require constant maintaining, fiddling.

Comfortable - if it isn't comfortable to ride it ain't happening. (I prefer recumbents because of this)

Convenient - places to park safely and securely, places to change, etc.

Majority of bicycles ARE NOT designed for transportation.
-they are designed for, entertainment, exercise, and primarily competition.

If we want to see more cycling commuters we need to make affordable and accessible bicycles that are better designed for transportation.

Due to a visual disability (keritconus, two transplants, etc) i have never had a driver's license.

I used a bicycle as my primary means of transportation. I have thoughts on the subject as a result.

(SE Wisconsin year round.)

Getting frustrated with antivaxxers for cherry-picking data to support their viewpoint but then realizing they do the same thing with the Bible

Also notice there is nothing about deceit or dishonesty mentioned.

He drove them out for turning the temple into a marketplace.

It was a time and place issue.

As a Baptist, we dont need "Christian" politicians, we need politicians who happen to be Christian.

Politics is a job that a Christian can do, but it should not be so they can advance Christianity.

How they legislate will be affected by their faith, but they should not legislate their faith

This quote is theologically insane.

Taken to its logical conclusion, it means nobody is responsible for anything.

It literally shifts blame onto Jesus for all evil in this world!

"Depart from me, workers of iniquity, I never knew you" - also Jesus.

To those who failed to help the stranger, the prisoner, the hungry.

A lot of those who claim to to be doing "great deeds" for Christ will be hearing these words.

This is a friendly periodic reminder that it’s bad for the soul to cheer when someone lives down to your worst expectations of them.

It’s also bad for the soul to assume that simply observing something is the same thing as rooting for it.

That’s all.

Senato Graham, the founder of the faith you claim as yours taught us to love our enemies.

I get why you struggle with that β€” you sold your soul for proximity to power. But the Iranian people aren’t even our enemies.

You traded truth for a lie, and now we all suffer. You shouldn’t hold power.

The crazy thing is that for those of us with severe visual disabilities this type of device, properly designed could be a true game changer.

But rather than use it to help us, the techies would rather create this.

As a Christian I'm not joking when I call Trump an anti-Christ. (Not The Anti-Christ necessarily)

I truly believe it.
