you either have to leave your phone stationary on the plate to charge (worse that wired charging) or you add a cord to the plate to increase mobility (basically just wired charging again). I've never had my port damaged but if that's a frequent issue for someone I could see the appeal.

unrelated to your issue but if you use an android phone I recommend using the anysoftkey board as your default keyboard. open source, multiple languages can be installed, no tracking, highly customizable.
