And we are at 228 laps for my 800 laps pledge this month in the #LapsForLife fundraiser. When I entered the pool today, I dint think I had the full distance in me, but then I made it! 28 laps ahead of my planned schedule, that feels good!

I dont think we should tolerate chemotopophobia. All molecules are equal.
With the exception of CH5+.
Just finished the #RSCPoster webinar on Mental Health in Science. Such an important topic, that especially the last days has been very much on my mind. We all need to learn to talk more, educate ourselves and communicate better about mental health.

This article is part of a special issue in JACS Au on flow chemistry, and I think this contribution, the main work of Gayathri's PhD within the IITB/Monash academy, is a wonderful example for fruitful collaborations between India and Australia!

New paper alert! Miniemulsion polymerizations are so useful for many things. Yet, bringing them from the lab to scalable synthesis is something that isn't easy. Using a combo of spinning disk reactor and agitated reactors, we solved that issue! Well done, Gayathri!

Congrats or commiserations to everyone dealing with the outcome of the DPEOI outcome today! It's always a tough one.
Take good care of yourself!

On days you where you feel like a complete failure, it is important to remember that maybe you are. And that that is OK, too.
That's the reason I will intentionally not open my emails anymore when I made the decision to have 'no work time' when I get home, even if expect good news. It's just too disruptive when rejections happen.
Anyhow, good things will happen eventually!
worry about who the people behind Trump will put in front of the camera then to further their agenda
How it feels these days to be calm and a good role model as an academic group leader.
Oh, this is fun!
Not sure how this selfie got on my phone - the GoPro must have aitomatically uploaded it. But this would be me, about 2018 at the great barrier reef, I guess?

Couldn't agree more obviously. I've encountered that already so often (you did probably as well) that digital chemistry is declared part of theoretical/computational chemistry. It always upsets me. It is so much more!
i was more referring to the robotics being a part of theoretical chemistry..... we need to change that BADLY

The one thing that is really upsetting about the racism at Australian Universities report is that people apparently expect university campuses to be racsim-free when the society is deeply racist.
Racism is bad. Universities need to fight it hard. But stop pretending unis are the cause.

Can someone please build a timemachine and slap yesterday's me for the idea to walk 16km when the longest hike i did in the past 5 years was maybe 7/8km? Im in so much pain right now.
But also: beautiful pictures! Australia is such a beauty!

The last days I am doing a lot of data analysis myself. The full bonanza - python scripts, statistics deep dive. While part of me is annoyed to do a lot of boring data formatting, the rest of me is excited like a 1st year PhD student. I get to do real research!
I so miss that.

I upgraded to bone conducting headphones so I can listen to music while swimming (which feels really weird...)
Anyhow, I will swim 20km to prevent youth suicide in March. If you know me (or not), I'd be super stoked to see your donation!

While using ChatGPT to get some code for data evaluation, I got a gold star award from the system telling me "you are building a very solid data pipeline!", and man, I have never felt so patronized before.
Who will be our Chem Sci Lectureship awardee for 2026? Nominate now!
Hottake: It should not take 30min to make miniscule changes to the format of your word document just so that the automatic pdf generator of a journal submission system finally produces an acceptable pdf.
