Were you ever Johnny Guitar? Jose Mandolin?
Were you ever Johnny Guitar? Jose Mandolin?
Ready to be spooked.
Piqued by two very different time travel movies that opened this week. Both are fun variations on how our past & future get filtered through technology and human relationships. Also NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE and GOOD LUCK HAVE FUN DON'T DIE have long tripartite titles and made me laugh.
Trust Guy! This is an amazing experience.
MOTHER EARTH UNITES US IN HEART AND MIND, AND THE LOVE WE GIVE MAKES US HUMANKIND, THROUGH OUR VAST WONDROUS LAND, WHEN WE STAND HAND IN HAND, IT’S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL.
Two films from the teens that were named to the National Film Registry today are streaming on the NFPF site--a Japanese American production from 1914 and a student film from 1916. Both are unique examples of independent filmmaking in early cinema.

Sharing a Puck article on this topic, seems like Sony doesn't get much say in future release strategies:

Inquiring minds want to know!
I’ll be seeing one of them tomorrow.
She was nominated for the wrong performance this year. Hopefully these “Skandie” nominators saw the new Predator.

Wild stuff happening in the Frisco Bay.
It was great meeting you at that event! Thanks for playing audio from my other favorite ride as we waited for festivities to start. It really made my day more special.

There is a fun program of George Kuchar videos celebrating the holiday season at SFMoMA this Thursday. It's free but you have to reserve a spot online. Come jingle your bells with George!

The marquee at The Union Theater advertising The Man in the Tuskhut and Frontier Saloon.
A poster for The Man in the Tuskhut show next to a silhouetted man in a cowboy hat behind frosted glass art on the wall behind a table with a sash and an old lantern on it.
Interior of a theater with empty seats and a b&w mountainous landscape on the screen.
So glad I ventured south to see The Man in the Tuskhut at the Velaslavasay Panorama. It was amazing & a little disturbing. I want my pals to check it out so I can talk about more. Hard to do so publicly without spoiling some of the magic. Thanks to @jwoliner.bsky.social & @ericnot.bsky.social
Thanks! Very much enjoying your immersive trails around the globe.
Booked an appointment with the Man in the Tuskhut at the Velaslavasay Panorama in Los Angeles tomorrow evening. Forgot I had a Saturday afternoon ticket to a lecture at Walt Disney Family Museum about the new Walt animatronic. Ready for some quality time on the 5.

Met this lovable beast at Mystic Falls Park at Sam’s Town in Vegas.
Display featuring a room modeled on Ragtown near the Hoover Dam.
The exterior of La Villita Casino.
The exterior of Red Dragon restaurant.
A display showing Roy Rogers on location near the Boulder Dam.
Had a brief stop at the Hoover Dam Lodge and Casino and was charmed by its interior featuring local art, historic displays, themed restaurants, and lots of slots.
I wasn't really doing much with Bluesky at that time, and its unlikely that our digital paths had crossed yet. Next time!
At the Roxie? I was at that screening. I do know they showed it again elsewhere though.
Anyhow, welcome home. The trip looked awesome.
Home in time for the Donn of Tiki screening at the Brattle. It’s good!

The Freak Family trailer featuring a banner and an animatronic Carnival Barker.
A gorilla makes eggs at a table. Behind her an alien sits up in a bed.
A younger member of the Freak Family standing on a toilet looks in a mirror.
Had the good fortune to visit The Freak Family traveling trailer in Oakland yesterday. A wondrous experience and a treat for this lover of animatronics.
Lucky! Do you know if they'll be bringing it back for the public in the future? Asking for a non-friend...
Can't wait to hear what you think.
I think it might be happening again in December.
