And yet the concept of toxic scrubber wash discharge from the shipping industry is completely ignored.
Scrubber wash warms the water, increases acidification, discharges heavy metals, & PAHs, kills phytoplankton, zooplankton & copepods….but hey #Cruiseships are an economic driver.

Just because something is legal doesn’t make it safe. There is a reason why you can’t smoke in restaurants.
Same for Heavy Fuel Oil—the damage to the marine environment is indisputable. The cruise industry has lost this war.
We could get rid of cruise ships tomorrow and there would be nothing but benefits.

"The biggest offender…was Carnival Corporation…the corporation who owns subsidiary companies Princess Cruise Lines, Holland America Cruise Lines, and Carnival Cruise Lines.
In total, their ships were responsible for every single one of the 334 violation days in 2024 and 423 violation days in 2023."
The speed limit may be the only thing between endangered and extinct .
