I think the fact that the Hellaverse tends to humanize its antagonists *without* sanding down their edges should be a wake-up call for viewers to stop looking for a “tragic backstory” as a redeeming quality itself.

This is true! I do think my universe is a more exaggerated version of humanity but in Helluva it’s pushed more by the perspective of the hellborn, who have very different perception of humanity. 😂
