Correct, it isn't going away. I'm a 15yr veteran in UX design and just last week, on LinkedIn, I saw a leader in the design community basically capitulate and say "it's a turning point, we should learn to accept we don't actually need more designers - we need more people aware of what design is." 🤬
In the eyes of a business person generative AI is an ideal substitute for creative research/exploration. When business needs to move quickly, a rapid prototype is everything.
The ethics of "jobs lost" is not currently part of the cost-cutting, ROI equation.
