Completely blueprints. I did have to make one minor change to the engine to allow the camera to rotate without gimbal lock though.
SDFs would not be good as I don't want every surface to be 'magnetized'

DRG was def an inspiration. Everytime I've mined in elite, I couldn't help but think how every asteroid could be a level.
Game premise: Space goblin mining crew that harvest valuable parts off the corpses of dead space gods for profit, while dealing with eventual insanity.
Guess in today's environment, it would be considered 'Friend Slop'.
It looks a bit crazy, but the non-uniform gravity actually controlled really comfortably.
I was also just learning about possessing actors.
The intent was to have a procedural skybox. These planets are completely unlit material wise. It's all just shader magic.
