lol when you go to a journal site to decline/accept to review a manuscript and get the autoreply β€œwe are very sorry but we already have enough reviewers” when it should be β€œREJOICE 🍻you have been saved the time to review another paper or make up a reason for why you have no interest in reviewing it”

This is also a fantastic time for NIH grant reviewers to be really careful with their critique language. Of course you want to use the Gold Standard concepts. And avoid the trigger words. Look, you can like the grant for whatever reasons you want and write approving critiques that pass muster.

First highlight...

Senator Capito started of the discussion saying that the bill contains AN INCREASE for NIH.

The details are not available, but the bill will be released ofter the hearing.

This is not a done-deal, but it does show where the Senate is on a bipartisan basis.

Longitudinal and Concurrent Changes in Brain and Gut due to Morphine Self‐Administration With this work, we present evidence of longitudinal changes in the brain and gut microbiome following morphine use. We used a within-subjects design to show that chronic administration of morphine al...

I hope your institution can figure out a temporary solution for you and allow you. I'm happy to chat if you need some help or tips.

You may be able to submit. Talk to your institution pre-awards team about withdrawing because I’m pretty sure that application won’t be reviewed and about putting it back immediately under a different PA. You’ve done so much just to get it in don’t give up and I’m pretty certain all your mentors and

and compete. Do it as a sign of persistence, if you choose and want to. I certainly am and will continue to try to impact my local environment so that I can continue to exist in academia. I hope you and all of us who feel defeated can continue to work on improving as everyone is in science is doing

Something similar happened to one of my R01's. I withdrew it and submitted to a parent PAR. Do not be discouraged. In the study sections, reviewers do not change the review based on whether it's MOSAIC or regular K99, but you still need a good score to get funded. I recommend submitting a regular K

I hope you will all join me in expressing your thanks to the NIH and NSF staff who are working in an impossibly difficult and chaotic environment to keep science going in our country.

Oh great… the same new PIs who were hit by a global pandemic just as they started are now trying to renew their grants and get tenure when the funding agencies are actively being destroyed. But sure.... that COVID tenure clock extension reeaaallly made a difference....

A tradition started in the other app and now continuing it her. I want to highlight Miss. Kylie Jones on submitting her MS work on DTI changes in a model pre-eclampsia for review. Fingers crossed for a smooth review process.
