‘This country’s divided’: how a Sunderland charity is changing that – one house, park and shop at a time Far-right rhetoric fuelled rioting here in 2024, but Back on the Map is helping to unite the community, through good accommodation, new shops, and an aim to genuinely uplift and improve people’s lives

Most wonderful antidote to doom scrolling reading here about Back on the Map's community work in Sunderland 👏👏 What a model to follow

Over a pint in Oxford, we may have stumbled upon the holy grail of agriculture | George Monbiot I knew that a revolution in our understanding of soil could change the world. Then came a eureka moment – and the birth of the Earth Rover Program, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

This is such a good story of how random interaction can lead to potentially huge impact from new science

It’s on one of the major frontiers of science- understanding the soil that grows pretty much all our food

Again, why critical thinking skills are crucial in education. If people are bombarded with a constant stream of algorithmically selected content that engages them emotionally and we aren't equipping them with critical thinking skills from an early age then things like this are the inevitable outcome

It’s a sharp, hopeful intervention in the face of democratic breakdown, and it aligns in profound ways with the epistemic collapse I’ve been tracking in my own work.
