I am running a Climate Dynamics reading group for UCI graduate students this Spring and would like to propose a list of accessible papers on "big ideas" in climate dynamics from the 21st Century, prioritizing primary sources over review papers.
Any suggestions of papers? (Self-promotion welcome!)
There is a pretty interesting paper in prep about SMOC shutdown…
No wonder you weren’t at #OSM26 !
Some opportunities for improvement at #OSM26. The headphones. They are tiny. Yes I have a cabeza grande but others have also complained.
Also; so warm! Too warm!! I (a Florida Man) am actually sweating in some locations. Keep it cool, jeez
Haha yes I tried that too but missing my third hand to take the selfie 😆
What were the sessions? The abrupt AMOC change and the large scale circulation and biogeochemistry sessions (@jaimepalter.bsky.social had a great talk in @jon-lauderdale.bsky.social ‘s session)

For the mega nerd who wants to be in two “silent disco” sessions at once—double headphones!

#OSM26 Day 3
Some insights after 3 days in Glasgow:
1. the accents of local school children (walking to the SEC this morning, for some reason) is cute as hell
2. The local university knows how to set the mood
3. Glaswegians are incredibly nice. Go to Fat Al’s gelato for proof
*improv comedy

#OSM26 Day 2 🌊
Undergrad me would be so happy to see the session I’m presenting in (pic 1). He would also wonder why my poster was so wrinkled and oversized (these boards are so small!)
Yes! To quote the cardinal rule of improve comedy, “Yes and”
Fun new thing to do if you’re “silent disco” talk isn’t exciting you—click to another session!

#OSM26 Day 2
The lighting. We need to talk about the lighting. Very interesting. Like I’m in a spa about to enjoy a nice cucumber and mint drink… I like it
A reminder to those at #OSM26, there's an oceanography feed where your stuff could be seen by thousands, even if you have only one follower. Join, pin, like, post, enjoy.

#OSM26 Day 1
It’s eerily quiet in this strange—but kind of nice—headphones-only session (here in the #mCDR modeling session)
(It’s funny to hear the separate rounds of applause throughout the hall)
I’m probably not alone in this so I’ll skeet my question: where to buy a US to UK power adaptor (close to the conference center)?

Of course this Scottish sunshine is all for #OSM26

I have a similar story, but swap X-files for Hot Water Music (the band) 🤣. She was also cute, my age, and we’re still friends today.
Note: South Jersey man!! (There’s a difference)
New Jersey man is decent, cares about his neighbors, and protests for his first time
And this metric is so easy to meet! I just totaled my reviews for last year—10! Two first author papers submitted.
Yes, I want a cookie. Chocolate chip.
