Iβd say probably not, since the bulk of your work isnβt developing. Doesnβt mean you donβt DO development, but itβs not really your βroleβ anymore.
I wish I had known about this event happening prior to today, as I would have loved to attend!
An icon for Ko-Fi would be a nice addition to complement Patreon
I suppose my fellow engineers using strong tags instead of divs is a step up, though if theyβre already adding a tag, itβs REALLY not a stretch to just use a heading π
Thanks, I hate it.
Happy birthday Anna! Hope itβs as wonderful as it can be!
Would love to follow, if possible!
Absolutely horrifying
I was also thinking of border-image when I watched the video, and despite @css-only.devβs article, it just fails to fully click for some reason
2025. Iβve been building websites for over 25 years! Iβm an optimistic type, yet I canβt help but feel uninspired in the popular direction of our field in this moment. There's still meaningful work to do here to be sure, but the driving trend to automate every creative step has become rather... sad.
Jealous
Beautiful. Magnificent. Amazing.
I feel similarly about AI (and frameworks) and it gives me pause going down that road if itβs just going to lead to more work fighting the code.
I used frameworks way back in the day (Bootstrap v1) to get going and understand layouts, but generally now they can seem like a hindrance.
Watched this earlier today and was like, ββ¦ oh yeeeeeaaaahβ¦ thatβs still an optionβ π
I know I've seen a few people like @kevinpowell.co cover this in videos, but I don't remember whether it's fully explained *why* it works that way.
Donβt get me wrong, I enjoy pineapple on pizza, but thatβs certainly not EVERYONEβs preference. Forcing that as a required field instead is just a silly reaction of, βThere! I changed it! Are you happy?β
Also, I wanted to say I first came across your writing via the article βThe Internet According to Meβ, and while multiple items resonated with me (Neopets, Oregon Trail, etc), it was the DARPA Chief reference that I loved, because Iβm the same way π my brain went, βHe gets it. We should be friends.β
I think itβs been close to a decade that Iβve told my family not to buy me things, because I prefer experiences and time with people over material items. Doesnβt stop them from asking, even when they donβt have much money in the first place, but feel obligated to buy βstuffβ for others.
I feel this deeply, Ryan π¬
Oh hey, we picked that one up at Anime NYC π
Itβsβ¦ hell, for sure π
Looking forward to seeing them implemented!
Jet Lag! Jet Lag!
Oh yeah, thatβs definitely @danielobrien.bsky.social!
With lots of extra wrappers, JS, & workarounds / hacks π
Wow! A steal at that price!
But if they buy the book, how will *I* learn the technique?!
Ain't that always the way? "This season wasn't great... guess I'll need to stick around and see if they course correct in the next one!" π
