"tea eyes"
I've been on jury duty this week, so I didn't get to tune into the SFAC full meeting on Monday, but as expected, they voted to allow 'R-Evolution' to remain at Embarcadero Plaza until Oct. 9, 2026.
The one nay was β once again β from Commissioner J.D. Beltran.

Kate Schatz's book shows how silence and secrecy, especially within a family, allow people to make the same mistakes generation after generation.

I've never sounded more crotchety
the Theresa Hak Kyung Cha piece a few weeks back was filled with strange double spaces that still haven't been fixed
missing spaces creating new words: "gentleheat"
couldn't even get through the 2nd paragraph of this Kelly Akashi story in the NYT before I hit a typo
dispiriting livestream
Also, if you can't show up in person (mid-week, mid-day!), you can submit written comments of 150 words or less via email to
paris.cotz@sfgov.org or tara.peterson@sfgov.org by 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 17.

There's an opportunity for public comment next Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. on the proposal to extend the install of 'R-Evolution' for another six months (thru Oct. 5, 2026).

100% concur!
Missing in all the grass people coverage is that this was actually a tall person meetup! I wanna know if any dates come outta this gig. πΎπΎπΎ
definitely missing a literary circle, would add that to the 2026 version!

dense text of art spaces in overlapping boxes with founding year and operating budget
Scanned this incredible 2018 artifact of Bay Area arts spaces/projects, made by Carrie Hott for The Lab. How many have since closed and how many new things could we add?
If you've been feeling frantic and powerless while SF arts institutions close left and right, SOMArts is hosting a community convening this Friday to channel all those feelings into action:

do other editors "plunk in" images to web stories? what is your verb of choice?
Some things are much harder to write than others. Somehow I got through this review of a show I really loved, by an artist who was far smarter than me, and who should still be around to impress us with new work:

@letterformarchive.org is also free on Thursdays.
lolllllll thank you for your service!
Since SFMOMA has paused its popular First Thursdays program, may I suggest the TL's First Thursday Art Walk and the Castro's Art Walk this week instead?

did not have this on my early 2026 arts bingo card, which is nearly already full of news π«

βThereβs just so much happening,β says Rachelle Axel of Arts for a Better Bay Area.
On the Mission Cultural Center's sudden closure, an arts agency merger, the mayor's announcement of a top arts job, and expanding focus beyond just SF's downtown:
