Yep. Every character is pretty much perfect. It's funny how the Lovejoy character evolved. In the books he was much rougher, with a nasty streak. That transferred to the first series, but the writers mellowed him for TV.
I loved all the locations. Years ago, a special weekend for me was heading out to Suffolk and Essex, to visit places I'd seen in the series. One Saturday in about 1988, I bumped into Dudley Sutton in Chelsea. Had a couple of pints with him, he was ace.
One of my top five series. I used to love the books too, and read all of them multiple times.
