The Baron Adolph de Meyer Of the poor, pathetic phantoms of the past, a faint memory of the day before yesterday, the Baron de Meyer is forgotten today by all but a few who still appreciate the contributions he made to this…

A blog post on one of my absolute favourite photographers from the early 1900s, the Baron Adolph de Meyer. #queerhistory

Screen grab of a tweet from Sir Stephen Fry on 29 August 2019. It is a quote of a headline about the Cerne Abbas Giant 'Giant's erection to be polished by hand for two weeks'. His quote is 'I think we can all agree this is a fine headline'. The National Trust replied under saying, 'Hi Stephen, our top priority has always been taking care of our members.'

Do you remember this?

Back in 2019 *this post* caused quite a stir on social media.

As a gay ace, I love that the uni college where I’m living flies the #asexuality flag for #PrideMonth. We’ve had numerous calm weather days recently, so was hard to get a photo. I captured this one, flying to the left and not right. It’s not straight. It’s not conforming. I like that! Happy Pride!

#kentmere400 is a high speed, fine grain film. It offers a lower price point as well as good sharpness and a broad tonal range along with a wide exposure latitude. Making it a smart choice for beginners and for those returning to film.

I’ve been collecting 1950s bodybuilder magazines for a while now. These two front covers (1953 & 55) are by Arax of Paris. Like most physique photographers of the time he obscured his identity to avoid obscenity laws. Real name Krikor Djololian-Arax, he captured the male form from the 1930s to 70s.

My top 10 continued. Disclaimer: other great books also available! #LGBTHistoryMonth

1. The Sexual Perspective πŸ₯‡πŸŒˆπŸŽ¨
A truly beautiful book exploring art through its production by gay artists, the β€˜gay gaze’, social contexts and more. So much here of use to students and researchers at all levels. πŸ’œ

2. Hard to Imagine πŸ₯ˆπŸŽžοΈπŸ“Έ
Thomas Waugh literally tells us as it is. It’s full on, and all the better for it! Incredibly well researched and well written. More early history than my no. 3, Fully Exposed. With my no. 1, it should be on everyone’s bookshelves.

3. Fully Exposed πŸ₯‰πŸ“ΈπŸ“Έ
An absolute must for anyone exploring the history of male nude photography. I found this incredibly useful when researching the β€˜artist aid’ nude photography of 1850s-80s, Eadweard Muybridge, and 1950s physique magazines.

Asexuality is a spectrum that answered a lifetime of questions Asexuality is a spectrum, and all of us who fall somewhere on that spectrum have different relationships with sex and sexual attraction

πŸ’œ β€œI’d heard of the term asexual, but dismissed it out of hand, because I assumed that meant a disgust and revulsion towards sex entirely; and what I felt wasn’t that” - Sarah Kenchington

Petition: Rights Beyond Borders: Improve employment policies for international students We want the government to change the employment restriction policies imposed on international students holding a student visa.

Please sign and share the government petition Rights Beyond Borders to improve employment policies for international students. An increase to the cap on working hours and more flexibility for intermission would make UK study more achievable for so many.
